Here's where you say your favorite poems (can be more than one.)
This one's one of my favorites.

No— I did not take the nap—
The naptookme
Off the bed and out the window
Far beyond the sea,
To a land where sleepy heads
Read only comic books
And lock their naps in iron safes
So that they can't get took.

And soon as I came to that land,
I also came to grief.
The pointed at me, shouting,
"Where's the nap, you thief?"
They took me to the courthouse.
The judge put on his cap.
He said, "My child, you are on trial
For taking someone's nap.

"Yes, all you selfish children,
You think just of yourselves
And don't care if the nap you take
Belongs to someone else.
It happens that the nap you took
Without a thought or care
Belongs to Bonnie Bowlingbrook,
Who's sittin' cryin' there.

"She hasn't slept in quite some time—
Just see her eyelids flap
She's tired and drowsy— cranky too,
'Cause guess who took her nap?"
The jury cried, "You're guilty, yes,
You're guilty as can be,
But just return the nap you took
And we might set you free."

"I did not take the nap," I cried,
"I give my solemn vow,
And if I took it by mistake
I do not have it now."
"Oh fiddle-fudge," cried out the judge,
"Your record looks quite sour.
Last night I see you stole a kiss,
Last week you took a shower,

"You beat your eggs, you've whipped your cream,
At work you punched the clock,
You've even killed an hour or two,
We've heard you darn your socks,
We know you shot a basketball,
You've stolen second base,
And we can see you're guilty
From the sleep that's on your face.

"Go lie down on your blanket now
And cry your guilty tears.
I sentence you to one long nap
For ninety million years.
And when the other children see
This nap that never ends,
No child will ever dare to take
Somebody's nap again."

This poem is from some chick that I know. Her name is Danny (yes, its a girl :P)

Today I heard a bird cry
A little voice piercing the air
A faint shrill
A call of despair
The bird a sharp black in color
Called quietly
For the company of another
Oh to be alone
Weak and unnoticed
A lonely old crow
Whose dark forbidding figure
Is surrounded by fresh white snow
Fly among the branches
Hear the wind sweetly moan
And cower in the shade
Of the suns glowing tone
Little birdy
Find your way home
For no life is a good life
When you are spending it alone

I like it! Here's one I wrote about friends.

Friends (apt title, eh?)

Walking alone on an empty street.
Searching for friends that I might meet.
To help in my trial,
To bring peace for a while.
But they are all gone, a side each to take.
No time to talk, accusations to make.
So I must move on, alone and afraid,
With hope my decision be rightfully made.
And as my friends, in scorning- delight
On this road I will walk, and search for the light.

Nice jake...

this next one is about Online friendship..

Sorry

To have a friend is the best of things,
to talk and to listen,
to hear and to be heard.
Friendships can be as strong as a mountain,
but even the greatest of mountains can crumble,
from a wrong action, or the wrong word,
it can totally end a friendship never to be repaired.

But friendship upon the Internet is a greater issue,
there are those who lie, and those who live it.
As people are only judged by their chosen words,
and their actions aren't to be seen.

People share their minds, and thats how it makes it more deep,
for a greater love or a deeper hate, lives can still be changed.
For but one moment, and one unthought of reaction, a word was typed,
which brought the mountain crashing down.

That which was shared was lost,
one side feeling anger.
The other reacting, then realisation, foolishness and loss,
at building something and its destruction.

Many words for tried for a forgiveness,
but unaccepted, and ignored.
For being ignored is the strongest reaction one can do,
not getting a response, can isolate a person from those whom they counted a dear friend.
and then nothing...

For the Internet can be a great barrier as well,
for emotions cannot be portrayed.
As only words can be typed, and only accepted as just words,
so no real apology can be made, or forgiven.

So only one word can be really typed and hoped to be forgiven.
One word that may lessen the anger.
One word that may get a response.

sorry

Yay, this is good, a forum for all of us bedroompoets :) Here is a poem from my publishment that I wrote under christmas:

Harmony

It all starts with a whisper.

The soft and silent serenity
that elevates the treetops,
is the flowering bud of a melody
that dances with the raindrops.

The rhythm of the northern wind
as it blows through the grassy meadows,
is in harmony with the timeless rays
of the dancing sun and its shadows.

A celestial dancefloor for the stars,
the sky is now blue and cloudless.
The eyes of heaven twinkle in the rhythm:
a display of creation's greatness.

The wind blows stronger through the fields,
the crescendo is overwhelming.
All of nature's existance is dancing,
the divine song is never-ending.

"Don't fear life" the flowers sing,
"don't fear life at all,
our music plays a crucial part
in preventing your downfall.
For always when you're down and out,
just listen for our call."

The sound has softened to a sigh,
as the music slowly ends.
Encompassing silence reaches us all,
reflecting the love it sends.

In a whisper it all ends.

Liquid Desire

oh please heat up
oh please be faster
Time is running out
I can't wait much longer.

I awoke early morning
my eyes glued shut
yet the first thing I thought of
was your liquid down my throat

staggering around the house
even the shower could not wake me
I could only think of your heat in my hands
as I sip and slurp you down

Running around the house
you were already started
pulling on my clothes
I knew the time was near

pulling on a jacket
and picking up my purse
I could taste your scent upon the air
as I run for you

Taking you in my hands
I slowly devour your liquid
you've brightened my day
my steamy cup of coffee

Um...wrote this tonight, don't have a title yet.

First a trickle, then a Flood,
The rain comes pouring down.
Churning dead dust into mud,
False tears outline my frown.

Cold tears that I could not cry,
When they laid you in the ground.
Those wells had long ago run dry.
Like you, dying without a sound.

Your moldy colored tomb was chipped from jade,
And as I stiffly turn around,
My flesh gleams green as I am also made,
Green and dead as a burial ground.

So died our youthful innocence,
That awful day the rains came down.
And each mournful drop brings penitence,
Oh how long will the rain come down?

nice one...

another one of mine..

What I seek

And so the time comes, where a new path shall be taken,
following it into darkness, where no light can be seen.
The day passes from night, into darkness,
Consuming and calming all.

As I take these steps, laid before me,
I have trod upon more roads than can be counted.
Yet there is always another, to follow the last,
Continuing and never ending.

Yet this new path, leads along another road,
Different from the last, Yet familiar in sight.
A sight which blinds the eyes, and warms the face,
A stray beam of light

It stabs into my inner consciousness, as a knife through flesh,
Delivering memories of old, consuming the darkness which calms me.
To run or to approach, I am torn within by the choice,
Do i really want what i seek?

This one is mine.

"Till the world was like a sea of tears
And every soul a wave."
-Elf, from Ballad of the White Horse

I am drowning in a sea of sorrow
That terrible, awesome flood.
Despair and tears run mingled down my face
Cannot breath - I gasp for air

I am drowning in a sea of tears
shed not for Balder slain.
I can feel the whole world crying,
crying, but not for me.

I am drowning in a sadness sea,
with sinners, sinners lost.
Lord, Lord, why have you forsaken me
This wave is drowning in a sea
Going, Going, Gone.

This one is by G.K. Chesterton. If you don't knwo who that is...then that is very sad.

The Deluge

Though giant rains put out the sun,
Here stand I for a sign.
Though earth be filled with waters dark,
My cup is filled with wine.
Tell to the trembling priests that here
Under the deluge rod,
One nameless, tattered, broken man
Stood up, and drank to God.

Sun has been where the rain is now,
Bees in the heat to hum,
Haply a humming maiden came,
Now let the deluge come:
Brown of aureole, green of garb,
Straight as a golden rod,
Drink to the throne of thunder now!
Drink to the wrath of God.

High in the wreck I held the cup,
I clutched my rusty sword,
I cocked my tattered feather
To the glory of the Lord.
Not undone were the heaven and earth,
This hollow world thrown up,
Before one man had stood up straight,
And drained it like a cup.

these poems I post are my own...

My Lost Friend

I had ruined it,
so long ago now.
Yet it felt like yesterday,
I wish it hadn't happened.

We knew so much about each other,
knew each others pains and dreams.
We were the best of friends,
Till I was stupid enough to ruin it.

I still run it through my mind,
thinking of anyway which I could have said differently.
Just that one comment said in jest,
yet you took it to heart.

You walked away,
a frown on your face.
Not saying anything,
yet it hit me as a brick

I tried calling,
you never answered.
I tried visiting,
You wouldn't see me.

I tried everything I knew,
yet you just couldn't forgive me.
It was so long ago now,
Yet still feels like yesterday.

I believed you had forgotten me,
but I couldn't forget you.
You laughter and jests,
always brightened my days.

Could this be the end of it all,
never to speak again.
Could I ever get it back,
thoughts racing as I looked down from the bridge.

This was not the way though,
to make anything feel better.
I went home to my lone appartment,
to see one light blinking.

Not knowing who it would be,
or expecting any calls.
I curiously pressed the button,
and listened to your voice.

Shocked I played it again and again,
a smile crossing my lips.
you wanted to meet up again,
you had not forgotten me.

Instantly calling you back,
I recieved only a machine.
But even that sent my hope souring,
As I agreed to meet up again.

Meeting up at the cafe,
we were both nervouse from the lack of words.
I tried to say sorry,
but you had stopped me.

Telling me it was alright,
that they were wrong not to talk.
I paid for coffee that day,
we talked endlessly all afternoon.

Meeting up many a time more,
we enjoyed many a laught and experience.
You are my best friend,
and now your my wife.

Why the Jabberwocky by Lewis Carol of course. :D

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
 And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

ooh! thought of a couple more!
here is poe's Lines on Ale

Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain —
Quaintest thoughts — queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

And The Bells:
The bells! — ah, the bells!
The little silver bells!
How fairy-like a melody there floats
From their throats. —
From their merry little throats —
From the silver, tinkling throats
Of the bells, bells, bells —
Of the bells!

The bells! — ah, the bells!
The heavy iron bells!
How horrible a monody there floats
From their throats —
From their deep-toned throats —
From their melancholy throats!
How I shudder at the notes
Of the bells, bells, bells —
Of the bells!

um...I think The Raven's a bit long, as is the Declaration of Independence, so i'll just do Shakespeare >.<

When I consider everything that grows holds in perfection but a little moment;
that this huge stage presenteth naught but shows whereon the stars in secret influence comment; when I perceive that men, as plants increase, cheered and checked, e'en by the self-same sky, vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease, and wear their brave states out of memory;
then the conceit of this inconstant stay sets you most rich in youth before my sight,
where wasteful time debateth with decay to change your day of youth to sullied night.
And, all in war with time for love of you,
as he takes from you, I engraft you new.

I dont mean to sound stupid, but my favourite isn't really a poem, more of a song...but i guess it could count as a poem

Tribute to Vlad

I only spoke to you once
Words can’t express how I feel
A very kind and warm soul
Will my wounds heal?
You were in a big crash
Unlucky were you?
You’re number was up
Was it overdue?

The memory lives on
We will never forget
What you did for us
The first time we met
What a great time it was
Did it have to be you?
Did it have to be anybody…
…anybody I knew

Why did you have to leave us so early?
Why did you have to go so soon?
We never got to talk about the future
The future wasn’t like a cartoon
It was unfortunately real life
Real life that had to end
End in a horrible disaster
You never got a chance to be my friend

It was on Christmas Eve
That you decided to ride
A drunkard drives up
Smashes straight into the side
You had so many friends
Many a few
You are now gone
We will all miss you

Two weeks later
We here the bad news
We all feel sorry
For not only you
But for your family as well
How must they feel?
I’ve never felt this way before
This is unreal…

Why did you have to leave us so early?
Why did you have to go so soon?
We never got to talk about the future
The future wasn’t like a cartoon
It was unfortunately real life
Real life that had to end
End in a horrible disaster
You never got a chance to be my friend

Ah poetry! My favorite poets include Robert Frost, W.B. Yeats, William Blake, Shakespeare, William Wordsworth and Alfred Lord Tennyson. I love reading their work. My ultimately favourite poets, however, are Finnish, but I won't put their names here for the sake of clarity :)

Mm, my favourite poem from these English poets would be Robert Frost's "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening". An absolutely beautiful, traditional lyrical poem, describing a wintery scene:

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

The world was young, the mountains green
no stain yet on the moon was seen
no words yet laid on stream or stone
when Durin woke, and walked alone
He named the nameless hills and dells
and drank from yet untasted wells
He stooped and looked in Mirrormere
and saw a crown of stars appear
like gems upon a silverthread
above the shadow of his head

The world was fair, the mountains tall
in elder days, before the fall of
mighty kings of Nargothrond
and Gondolin, who now beyond
the Western seas have passed away
the world was fair in Durin's day.

A king he was on carven throne
in many pillared halls of stone
with golden roof and silver floor
and runes of power upon the door
the light of sun and star and moon
in shining lamps of crystal hewn
undimmed by cloud or shade of night
there shone for ever fair and bright

There hammer on the anvil smote
There chisel clove and graver wrote
the forged was blade and bound was hilt
the delver mined, the mason built
There beryl, pearl and opal pale
and metal wrought like fishes mail,
buckler and corslet, axe and sword
and shining spears were laid in hoard.

Unwearied then were Durin's Folk
beneath the mountains music woke
The harpers harped, the minstrels sang
and at the gates the trumpets rang.

The world is grey, the mountains old
the forge's fire is ashen-cold
no harp is wrung, no hammer falls
the darkness dwells in Durin's halls
the Shadow now lies on his tomb
in Moria, in Khazad-Dum
but still the sunken stars appear
in dark and windless Mirrormere
there lies his crown in water deep
till Durin wakes again from sleep

One of my favourites, by Tolkien as you might've guessed.

The Kiss

The pain
The hurt
Why can't it stop
Why does it have to be
How did it happen

Can't you be with me
Can't you just forgive
I wish I hadn't left you
I wish I hadn't made that mistake
Please come back

I wasn't thinking
I was hurting
Just wanting to be held
Just wanting to be comforted
I know I have hurt you

She was there for me at the time
She held my hand and comforted me
How was I to know what would happen
How was I to see that it would hurt you
I was only thinking of myself

I only asked for one last request
I only asked for one last kiss
You chose then to walk in
You chose then to cry
As her lips were upon mine

At that moment all sound stopped
At that moment I ceased to be
The doctor knew I was not going to last long
The Nurse stayed by me till the end
But you came too late

The Doctor pronounced me dead that day
The Nurse drew the sheet up over my face
Your tears and pain filled the room
Your cries were not heard by me anymore
I just wanted one last kiss.
