Bumped because I wanted to share this - We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire. The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. One of my favorite quotes comes from Alfred D Souza. He said, "For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life." This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time... and remember that time waits for no one... So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy... Happiness is a journey, not a destination. |

I think I've posted here before, but I think that in life you should do what you want to and feel comfortable with. Set goals, and try to achieve them by working (hard). That's what I'm trying to do at least. I'm not sure if that gives your life a meaning though. I don't think there is one. The world as a system couldn't care less if you died. I don't believe in destiny either. It just seems to complicated for me. Note to self: don't think about it too much |

The meaning of life: There is no set meaning. To define something as having a meaning, is hypocritical of a meaning in itself. The meaning of life is simply how you perceive it. If you perceive it as pain, it will be pain. If you perceive it as happiness, it will be happiness. There is no reality, no one can define what is truly real. Tell an insane person he isn't superman. Who is wrong? Someone who thinks with all his heart he is superman, or someone who thinks with all his heart that the man isn't superman? There is no reality, life is perception. Why am i here? I do not know yet, truly why i am here. But i know why i want to be here. _______________ "A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary" |

I feel life can only be explained with a passage from one of the greatest pieces of music every written : "Life's a piece of s**t, when you look at it. Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true. What is the meaning of life? Everyone has their own view on the meaning of life. I shall give my two-bits: The meaning of life is to live until you die. You change everything around you until there is nothing to change, then you go obsolete. When a person becomes obsolete, they will die. thats it in a nut-shell... BUT, we are on this earth to think, to ask this question is just to fulfill our duty on earth. To me, everything on earth serves it's purpose. _______________ When you are told something for years, you learn to accept it. But, after the truth is revealed, you feel conufusion, isolation, and depression. Then you ask, where do I belong? I'm searching for that answer. |

Cool theory But I think Agent Smith has a point in his theory. Everything in nature is in balance, except for humans. The humans ruin the whole balance, we have no natural enemies (apart from ourselves), so we dominate every food chain. This seems very illogical to me, seeing that the rest of the nature is perfectly balanced, and if you would leave out mankind, it would probably live on and on, until an external effect (like a meteorite) disrupts the peace. |
Bail Hope of Belouve - Student |
did I ... say that? For all we know, there is some kind of Walhalla out there where we can find peace after our lives... I just refer to the humans as the aliens on our planet... which at some point is logical... WARNING: This was a theory of mine when I was ten Theory: Way back, the dinosaurs were destroyed because of the two meteorites that hit the earth, right? (they caused an Ice-Age). What if the meteorites were just parts of a world that has been blown to pieces, by war, or what if it was just a second earth, were humans also lived, but blew eachother up through wars? What if some kind of DNA-string, or some kind of mutation was on the Meteorites, and since one of them supposedly landed in the sea, what if they infected the fish and made them evolve into men? In such a case, we would be the aliens on this planet. Now suppose there are survivors from that world that blew up... What if they would make their way to earth one day, and we would meet "aliens" only to discover we're aliens ourselves? Imagine the freaky-ness _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! Actually, it's like what erm, Agent Smith told us in Matrix (1). We're just a bunch of virusses on this planet, and to be honest, I do not believe humans are from this planet.
