Well, it's that time of year again! The NHL playoffs start on Wednesday and this year's matchups are the best in a long time! 5 of the 6 Canadian teams are in, with 2 matchups between Canadian teams; Ottawa vs. Toronto (BIG rivalry), and Vancouver vs. Calgary. There's also one "Original Six" matchup; Montreal vs. Boston. Unlike in past seasons, there's more than just 2-3 teams that are favorites to win it all. Here's all the matchups: Eastern Conference ------------------ Tampa Bay Lightning (1) vs. New York Islanders (8) Boston Bruins (2) vs. Montreal Canadiens (7) Philadelphia Flyers (3) vs. New Jersey Devils (6) Toronto Maple Leafs (4) vs. Ottawa Senators (5) Western Conference ------------------ Detroit Red Wings (1) vs. Nahsville Predators (8) San Jose Sharks (2) vs. St. Louis Blues (7) Vancouver Canucks (3) vs. Calgary Flames (6) Colorado Avalanche (4) vs. Dallas Stars (5) I'm, of course, rooting for my Isles, though they're not one of the many favorites to win it all. They do have a good shot to get out of the 1st round. I know our fearless leader, Mr. Doobie, is rooting for the Wings, while Axion, Ford Prefect and Flash will be rooting for the Bruins. Also, Dicemaster will be cheering for the Avs. I know there are other hockey fans here at the JA, so chime in with your thoughts on this year's playoffs!
