I just started reading the series and its completly awesome. What's your opinion? Don't put down like endings to the books or imformation about a certain book without putting SPOILER just to remind the newbies. _______________ Be strong & brave.Don't ever be afraid. Corran Horn is a ladies man. I mean just read Wedges Gamble. He hooks it up with two hotties in the SW Universe in one book, and then Darklighter starts asking him about his pimp abilities. Hell he even goes outside of his species! Corran is a good man, and it is a shame the New Republic puts the blame on him for the fall of Ithor in the NJO series. And as for Corran Horn always coming close to death, that is how his character is written. He lives in deaths shadows, close to crossing the line but not quite. I mean look at what happens to him with Yuuzhan Vong Shedao Shai. Always living on the edge... _______________ Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will... Yeah, but he dies a lot more. That'd be pretty good in the trading game. Corran Horn - the guy that can't be killed! |

I'll agree to that, Micheal I do feel is a great writer but yes he has over done Corran dying a bit too much. I am the loving owner of the entire X-Wing Series and loved reading every word of them. Just think of Corran always dying as....well Corran dying all the time, didn't know where I was going with that lol trying to find a way to justify it lol. I'm just glad that Corran has become a bigger and bigger presence in the EU world though I wasn't too pleased when Micheal Stackpole himself was the portrait of Corran in the Trading Card Game, (The Corran Card which I have though I don't really play the game just like collecting them) Corran is a bit more...how to put this gently....thinner, more swave...just generally cooler looking lol. _______________ Look unto me for I possess the blue flag!! It is more beautiful then I ever imagined! You will now worship me as if I were a god! *smack, dies* I regret nothing, I lived as few men dared dream!! Red Guy from Red Vs. Blue Series |

(contains spoilers for the X-Wing series and a book in the NJO series) I'm of mixed feelings when it comes to Corran Horn. I, Jedi was a good book, yes, but I'm not too sure about Mike Stackpole's need to, in most of his X-Wing books, have him "die" off. Don't believe me? Rogue Squadron: Corran gets "let behind" on Borleias Wedge's Gamble: Corran gets "ploughed into a building" The Krytos Trap: Corran spends most of the book "dead" The Bacta War: Corran gets shot, and thinks he sees a ghost as he "dies" Isard's Revenge: Corran (and the rest of Rogue Squadron) get "destroyed" Dark Tide 1: Corran "dies" and floats in the air. I appreciate that Stackpole wants to make the reader feel the emotion of the main character near death, and this is a well-known way to achieve that. But does he have to do it in every 3rd person Horn book he writes? This comment was edited by Borlath Mon on Apr 12 2004 09:42pm. |

I've read both YJK's and NJO and its true you really get a better feel for NJO if you've read YJK and I think YJK is good, alot of the books arn't very long so younger people can get into the story and adventure of the EU, plus its a nice break from the big books. Now a gread book is I, Jedi staring my fav character Corran Horn the whole book is in FIRST PERSON...brilliant just BRILLIANT mtfbwy _______________ Look unto me for I possess the blue flag!! I haven't read the Young Jedi Knight series, and now, after going through The new Jedi Order, I really regret it. Without saying anying plotwise (in case people here haven't read the NJO books) I really wish I'd read the YJK series, because at times, it references the history of Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin from those books, and I have no idea what's going on. |
