Id rather just die than get dismembered, disemboweled, stabbed, decapitated, any of that stuff. Its basically not civilized at all, just a shiny sword. Dusat is 100% right...IMHO The lighsaber is an extremply civilized and elegant weapon. First of all, the use of the weapon is of utmost important.The jedi use the saber in special ocasions.You don't see Yoda opening fishcans with the lightsaber, or Obi Wan making graffiti on the wall with the lightsaber(just Katarn ).Further more, the weapon is used with high skill and finnesse.Just look at the Star Wars movies and JK Outcas and Academy.The jedi is like a samurai and a lighsaber is like a (dai)katana.The weilder and the weapon are one and they act like one.The saber is the jedi's mighty fist of justice not a simple weapon.As said before me, the saber cauterizez.An important fact.In the first stage, the saber is used to deflect the attack, then to parry, thirdly to weaken/imobilize the oponent and in the first place, to kill/elliminate.Do you see episode 2 with a Vader shooting his son with a blaster rifle(the underneath Bespin scene).No!Vader cuts Luke's hand and than starts a small persuade dialog.Well, that's pretty civilized to me. You see, you don't have to defuse a volatile situation by killing someone.As Katarn said in JK Academy, even the presence of the lightsaber is enough.So the lightsaber is also a symbol(well, dhaaaa). I guess I don't even have to refer to the way a lighsaber is created or how cool it looks. Bottom line, the lighsaber is much superior than a mere weapon. Quote: And talking about speed. If Obi wan was referring to the lightsaber, then I tend to believe when he called it elegant and civilized, it wasn't its effect on the human body he was talking about but the look, feel, and charizma of the saber...its a beautiful thing the hum, the light, the look of it cutting the air. And just think, your some trooper for the old republic and your pinned down with no way to escape except threw death from enemy fire when you suddenly see a blue or other light side oriented color lightsaber ignite in the battle....that would be a beautiful sight for me _______________ Look unto me for I possess the blue flag!! yes, but a light saber cauterizes you. there really is no blood when you kill somebody with a lightsaber. and usually you dont use a lightsaber to just wound someone. Think about it. It could take 4 or 5 shots with a blaster to kill someone. But one swing to a 'significant' part of the body (i.e. not limbs) will kill instantly _______________ Website |
