Now I've been reading the forums quite alot lately, and all I hear (though totally acceptable) is the poor job done by Jake Lloyd child actor. But I never hear any credit for Hayden Christensen...here we should vote for the best of the best, personnally I think Hayden did the best job! _______________ Look unto me for I possess the blue flag!! I'm going to have to agree with Billy. David Prowse was my favorite actor. Although James Earl did an awesome job with the voice, I have to give a little more credit to Prowse. James Earl Jones is absolutely positively the man. Sorry to go against the flow of this thread but I actually hated Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. I think he has the looks, but he played Anakin very straight as a 'I'm going through puberty, I'm resentful, I hate authority' kind of guy. Granted, that's the kind of script George had written, but in my mind's eye I see so much more to a young Anakin. When you watch the original trilogy and you see Vader in action, from the moment you know he is Anakin your mind starts racing. In actuality you deal with a pretty dark, pretty complex character, I think, and the prequel Anakin didn't streamline with that at all. I think his motivations for falling to the dark side were more complex than the clichés George threw at us... that being said, even the worst clichés can be thrown in your face if you have a good actor... which I don't feel was the case. I think he has a problem with overacting (and sometimes underacting, but that doesn't bother me as much). The dialogue in the movie is flat, but it remains flat because they don't deal with that stuff creatively. Hayden would be great for a photo shoot, but he deals with the results of darkness: anger, hostility, fear... not the origin of it. </actor mode> ~Ken |

James Earl Jones is the best Anakin ever for the following reasons (imo) 1. Very awesome voice 2. He starred with Eddie Murphy in Coming to America 3. Very awesome voice I didn't like Jake Lloyd for Anakin in Ep. 1 because that kid can't act too well  The guy in ep. 2 was weird, but he was ok i guess. not as bad as ep. 1 kid THEY SHOULD GET THE STAR WARS KID (Ghyslain) TO BE ANAKIN IN Ep. 3!!!!!!! Yes he did. I dont really see Jake Loyd as a portrayal of Anakin. Now I see your point, but seriously when you see bad acting you definitly see it, and Jake Lloyd is the worst, Hayden I agree did a kick ass job as a young Vader, he accuratly showed the dark erdges arising and did well to show us a young man torn in two directions. _______________ Look unto me for I possess the blue flag!! Not really a Question one can answer accuratly, They all play Anakin in Diiferent stages of his life. J.E.J. is "Vader" of course.
