.....The othe night when I was thinking DAMN!!! How similar is Star Wars to Lord of The Rings?!?!?!?! I found a shitload of similarities but here are a few I remember: Both Trilogies Both about a small band of heros being made in the first part, Starwars (Leia, Han, Chewie, Luke, Ben and the droids etc) LOTR (Aragon, Frodo, Sam, Legolas etc) Both based on how the the simplest person can save the world/galaxy, (Frodo , a mere hobbit from a overlooked place), (Luke, from the "furthest corner away from the centre of the galaxy" Tatooine. The second films are about the power of the villains and the third film are both about "The Return of The Jedi/King" somone very important They both contain fantasy magic and many different races etc. Is it possible this is where George got his inspiration from??? another of the greatest Trilogies of all time???? Lucas borrowed from almost everyone, Japanese Samurai films to the Wizard of Oz I've even heard. When I read the name of this post I wasn't that sure if I wanted to click on it :S I never noticed that connection. But I don't think that's where he got the inspiration. |

ACtually I saw an interview with George where he said that he got inspiration from many classic stories, like King Arthur and the father vs. son story within it for example, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Lord of the Rings is one of the stories he used. _______________ I do not ask for your poor, or your hungry, I do not want your tired and sick, It is your corrupt I claim, It is your evil that will be sought by me, With every breath, I shall hunt them down, Each day, I will spill their blood, till it rains down from the skies. Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace, These are not polite suggestions, these are cores of behavior, And those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. There are varying degrees of evil, I am a due lesser form of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over into true corruption, into our domain, For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see me, And on that day, you will reap it, And I will send you to whatever god you wish. |

kind of unlikely, really... Quote: Both about a small band of heros being made in the first part, Starwars (Leia, Han, Chewie, Luke, Ben and the droids etc) LOTR (Aragon, Frodo, Sam, Legolas etc) not to mention that just about every other adventure movie in existence also contains a "small band of heroes" Quote: Both based on how the the simplest person can save the world/galaxy, (Frodo , a mere hobbit from a overlooked place), (Luke, from the "furthest corner away from the centre of the galaxy" Tatooine. that's a common factor for heroes too. Quote: The second films are about the power of the villains and the third film are both about "The Return of The Jedi/King" somone very important erm..no comment Quote: They both contain fantasy magic and many different races etc. yeah well, being science ifction and fantasy films respectively, what did you expect? _______________ «±» 21st on the Midbie Council, Profile ID: 2027 «±» True wisdom is the knowledge that you know nothing. Are you guys kidding? You can't even compare LOTR to SW! I mean, I see what you're sayin and all Rogue, but those aren't really the best examples if you ask me. Either way I'd doubt that's where George Lucas got his inspiration. It was probably somebody else's idea and he just beat the crap out of the guy and stole it/pitched it to Hollywood. _______________ - Proud padawan of Kueller. - We really are at the beginning of it all. I believe Lucas got his inspiration from LOTR's, but definitly with his own twists and plot formation.
