Getting less of a newb

Time passes quickly. As of today I’ve been here for a year… No I’m not saying this is old or anything, but it feels nice to have been here for a respectful amount of time.

I first came here under the impression that the only thing I’d be taught here was some JK2. Well that’s the impression of anyone new to any community. However, if you stay here a little longer, you’ll realize that this Academy is more of a community than any other is. Aside from making you a better JK2 (and now JKA) player, it also builds your character. I came here as a little child (oh and what an annoying little child; I still am one deep inside, heh, and some know that) and now I’ve, hopefully, changed a lot. That could have been due to the close & resilient friendship growing between the members. I owe this place a lot for making me who I am today…

I consider myself lucky to still be here. Everyone should. You don’t know how good something is until you are forced to live without it. There was a time when I had gotten out of hand, but I made the right choice to leave in time; before getting banned. Now that I’m back, I can’t say how much this place means to me.

There are some people I’d like to thank the most…

Jacen: You were the first guy I considered here as a friend. Yet I manage to get into a fight with you for every single, and trivial, thing. Thank you for having showed patience with my actions in the past, and being a friend of mine. You said “Danish people like to boast about every thing they can”. Well then you can boast about your strong personality and friendliness. Yeah yeah you can even boast about your height, let’s not forget about that :P

Maul: Thanks for always being there for me and taking me on as your padawan. I learned many things from you. Keep up the good work, and try to show this friendship to as many people as you can. Being good (of course with a limit) doesn’t do any harm. Be good and you’ll definitely be rewarded at some point, in some way.

Aron, DJ, Fizz, Orion: Sorry for always being a nuisance; always with new incessant and sometimes annoying-as-hell questions. Thank you all for showing patience with me. Specifically: Aron thanks for all the mIRC scripting & eggdrop & TCL scripting help you’ve given me. You’re for sure a guru of IRC. DJ: Do you remember all the site bugs I’ve reported (some of which were wrong, heh), all the CSS & HTML & PHP & generally PC questions I’ve had? You were always there to answer, sleepless or not. Fizz & Orion: thank you both for answering every programming & *NIX question I’ve had. Thanks for showing extreme patience with me. To all: I’ll try to be less annoying from now on :P Thanks for being there for me.

If one day I become half as patient and kind as you guys are, I’ll consider myself one of the happiest and luckiest people on earth. ( <cough> I’ve been watching too much “Friends”, haven’t I? </cough> )

And of course I’d like to thank all the JA members for making the Academy what it is today. Not only the JAK+ for being the “admins” of this place and making sure that everything runs smoothly, but also the Students because, well, without students there wouldn’t be no academy. And students ARE the important thing of this community. Keep it up guys.

Thank you all for showing patience with me, and keeping this place alive. I don’t know what would have happened to me without the Academy…

May the force be with you, always…

Thanks to the human heart by which we live,
Thanks to its tenderness, its joys, and fears,
To me the meanest flower that blows can give
Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.
