[rant] Every time I see someone say "I play games on my cpu..", "My cpu crashed!", or even "My cpu hates me", my blood starts to boil. CPU = Central Processing Unit You do NOT play games on your Central Processing Unit, I highly doubt your Central Processing Unit crashed, and your Central Processing Unit definitely does NOT hate you. So please people, next time you use an acronym, try to learn its meaning first. Thank you and have a nice day. A few years ago I read a book called The Tinker Toy Computer, which is exactly what it sounds like. It played a perfect game of tic-tac-toe. The book included waaaaay cool photos and a complete explanation of how it worked. LOL fizz I knew some wise ass would say that. I just didn't think it would be you. Yes, of course your cpu can crash, but how often does that happen? Most of the time it's your operating system that caused the crash. And yes, your cpu is involved in playing games. But do you play them solely on your cpu? What about your RAM? Your graphics card? Even your monitor? If I handed you a cpu and a game CD could you install it and play on it? No. You need all that extra hardware which we collectively and conveniently call a computer. _______________ make install -not war |

harhar bubu, I hate to break it to you. *puts on smart-ass goggles* *puts on electronic Engineer badge* *puts on computer science badge* Quote: You do NOT play games on your Central Processing Unit, I highly doubt your Central Processing Unit crashed, and your Central Processing Unit definitely does NOT hate you. erm ok, if I do not play games on my CPU.... where else then ? the games I know do run ON my CPU, most even on the ALU and MMU and FPU, and also SIMDU and whatnot (these are all parts of the CPU)oh and YES, the CPU DOES crash. mostly however the operating system does crash, but if a so called "heavy ion" - a fast charged particle passes thru your CPU or memory chips, it can toggle a bit, or two. if that happens for a CPU register the CPU will perform some bogus operations with bogus results, in the best case, in the worst case it will get stuck in a _nop_ _nop_ loop. so, it DOES crash. oh and, CPUs can hate you just as much as the smurfs can hate you *puts goggle off* *puts badges off* mwahahahaha  _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |

Yeah I know how annoying it is, Bubu. Yesterday I was talking to this guy who was going on about "Aw man, I was talking to this hot girl in Skype, and all of a sudden my CPU went fudar". I tried and tried to tell him "Dude! It's not the CPU that crashes!! It's your RAM. _R_A_M_."
