Whoooooooooooooooooooooosshhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Listen. (This contains info from the Clone Wars expanded universe, if you don't follow this it probably contains stuff you might view as spoilers.)

General Grievous (or Grevious?) is an alien cyborg. His head and nervous system are still of his own reptillian self, but the rest is high-tech cyber shizzle.
He is the ultimate strategist and highly powerfull due to his bionic yayness. He is the big leader and strategist of the Seperatist army and is known to be able to take out Jedi like it ain't no thang. He collects the lightsabers of his victims and wears them around his belt as trophees. He thus also uses these lightsabers in battle. Also he can wield 4 lightsabers at a time by splitting his robotic arms. He'll die in Episode III man they all do, cause there has to be a last standoff between the two über-generals: Grievous and Kenobi... so yeah. :)

By the way he's right you know, those Republic Cruisers aren't the Star Destroyers we know, just like the Clone Troopers aren't the Storm Troopers we know. But they will be.

Oh and Grand Moff Tarkin is already in the Clone Wars boys 'n girls, and bet your bottom dollar we'll see him gleeming with pride as his Death Star is beginning to take shape. :D

I don't think the Republic is buiding the Death Star. It's existence came as a big shock to the Rebels, who are what remains of the Republic, and to Obi-Wan, who would have known about it already had the Republic been building it during the Clone Wars.

I do not ask for your poor, or your hungry, I do not want your tired and sick, It is your corrupt I claim, It is your evil that will be sought by me, With every breath, I shall hunt them down, Each day, I will spill their blood, till it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace, These are not polite suggestions, these are cores of behavior, And those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil, I am a due lesser form of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over into true corruption, into our domain, For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see me, And on that day, you will reap it, And I will send you to whatever god you wish.

It wouldn't think they would want a weapon to wipe out planets, especially if they are with the Jedi.

Darth bamse is right too, the Empire don't attack the Republic, they were the Republic. Doesn't anyone else notice the similarities between Stormtrooper and Clonetrooper uniforms (their guns might also be the same but different models, but I can't be bothered to check)?

The Death star is already designed in ep 2. It's the DS blueprints that Dooku is escaping with in the end. I think that the separatists did the designing together. I wonder if Tarkin could have been involved way back then...

Ploo Koon: Exactly. It's the Empire that builds the Death Star, much later. Tarkin is the head of the project. I don't know if he actually designed the thing, but he supervised the construction. Ep 4-5-6 takes place a good 20 years after ep 3.

About the star destroyers: The reason for the resemblance of the star destroyers from ep 2 and those in OT is obvious: They are built by the same company (Sienar Fleet Systems). The destroyers in OT are much bigger, and generally meaner; the next ship in the line so to speak.

A lot of people seems to get a lot of stuff wrong, the whole point of all this separatist stuff is to bring palpatine to power. He then turns the Republic into the Empire. There is no big "takeover", the republic never realises it is falling apart. Later, the rebellion is formed, but that is from general lousy government, not because the Empire attacked the republic or something. Palpatine is using the separatists (and probably dooku too, I think dooku is sincere about his reforms, I think he will be killed by palpy in ep 3) to make the republic "realise" he must be given emergency powers.

so your saying that he uses the republic , telling them its for defence, and than when its done, taking over it and gets evil? yea, sounds fitting.

I think it was palpatine/dooku's brainchild, with the Geonosans, Trade Federation, Banking Clan etc helping with the construction and whatnot. Now, here's something to think about - what if the Republic is building the Death Star? When Palpatine takes over n' all, it's his. Sounds pretty logical to me.

erm, Rikard

Grand Moff Tarkin was just proving himself by running it...

One man can't build a station on his own you know:)

Still, it must have been a large company to do it, since it's friggin' huge.

About 1/4 of Yavin IV
Think about it...:)

true bail:) General grievous wasnt the builder of the death star, still somethings isnt declaired yet, like, in ep2 we only see Arcitect structure of the station, not the station it self. and none imperials nor rebels, or siths made the arcitectures, my guess is that the Geonosians and the Trade federations came up with the idea, with the dark lord....just a thought...

right the builder of the death star was moff tarkin that knows every one:o

Those landing ships at the start of the war look have the same appearance as the Death Star, so my guess is it was whoever owns them that designed it, but I'm think also built it. The Trade Fed.?

yeah, I don't think they are the same

look closely by putting a picture of Ep.2 Star Destroyer besides an Ep 4-5-6 Star Destroyer

You'll notice the differences quite quick :D

Isn't the Super Star Destroyer already there?

The Republic certainly already have the ships that the Empire has in IV, V and VI, because you see them in Episode II.

im pretty sure he is going to end up getting killed after he is done "killing". otherwise they are going to have to edit all of the original films and put him in them since he has never been mentioned before.
