Battlefield Vietnam, the game I want to love but just can't

I know there a quite a few Battlefield Vietnam players in The Academy, and you've all at least heard of it. But I find I'm the only one NOT raving about it. Am I so alone? Well here's my reasons for not loving BFV.

EA is the worlds biggest games publisher. Mostly because of their heavy marketing and massmarket policy. They don't aim for the hardcore, they go for the money. Nothing wrong with that. A while back they enlisted DICE to create a game that, according to their research statistics, would take the gaming world by storm. Take the hottest war-time setting of the time (WW2), trow accessible, simple, but effective gameplay in a realistic package and make it online on big maps with vehicles and player support up to 64.
Battlefield 1942 was born and it kicked ass. I played it a bit at a mates house and it was good fun. Now suddenly WW2 has made way for Vietnam (allthough not as sucessfull) and along comes Battlefield Vietnam.

Now I've always wanted a Vietnam game. I love Vietnam movies and think its the ideal setting for a first-person shooter. So as soon as I found out about BFV I jumped up and grabbed it. So I get home, install it and start up a match. My first dilemma is my pc config: Athlon XP 2400+, 512MB, GeForce 3 Ti200(64MB). Mostly my videocard is lacking here and it really shows. I have to set details to lowest wich makes the game look ugly as hell. But thats ok, cause I can play now. Be it that the game tends to run god-awfull slow when I'm in a building. I don't walk, I stagger. I walk off a stairs and I slide down and hurt myself (WTF?!). Theres also a serious lag issue, I have pings of 30 and still I see stupid lag warps. Theres also a lag on my aim wich sucks major. The there's the clipping problem. I see people going prone and their legs are stick out of a building. I sit inside an APC and dirt from the wheels splatter around INSIDE! What the hell man?
Oh, and then there's the sound. The sound is cool, the jungle noises and the music. But I don't like the fact that I don't hear a tank exploding behind me, or any real explosion. Or that someone puts on my music and hear the first second of the track loud as hell, and then it dissapears. Sometimes I see someone walking in front of me firing their gun and I don't hear the shots. Its stuff like this that just pisses me off. This is a half-arsed game that resembles a serious lack of quality. Sure, if it where a small Eastern-European game devloper I'd say ok. But this is EA Games ffs, what gives?

All in all, I want to love BFV because it has so much coolness potential. But all in all, I just can't play it.

I like EA and the games they make, but your right on BFV, it has MAAAJOOOR issues, even for me and i run the game on the almost highest settings, still i dont get the feeling of war as i got in bf1942, the sounds of war in the background is gone, and i see dust inside the APC too, legs sticking out the wall, ect., and alot of the sounds of the weaponds dont show up. That SUCKS, there are only a few vehicles, some realy lame weaponds that cant hit a thing, and the bots are even worse, cant even fly the helicopters they made for the game!! DUDE! there are too few maps, and they lag of gameplay too, ether its totaly infantry battle, or its a level with 2 vehicles on ech side.....jezez..thats why i dont play that game anymore, lag of fun.:)

Yeah I'm pretty sure the game would play a lot better if I got myself an overpriced piece of silicone to pump the video. :P
Thing is, I'm a poor student with a number of other interests outside gaming so I just don't have the finances. Plus I'm getting a PlayStation 2 soon.
I tried the Joint Operations demo (damn that game sounds like fun) but it ran even worse than BFV, so no game there.

But you have to admit that the amount of bugs in the game is inexcusable for such a big company as EA Games!
