got the game, gameplay could be better, i'm a blood fan so that works out, lighting could be a little better and still present the "dark" appearance they're going for. I'm not noticing any major cpu dragging. all in all i get to shoot stuff and not feel the least bit guilty as i'm splashed with blood, i like it. P.S. What I always hope for but hardly ever see is true gaming innovation. Doom 2 had deathmatch, which revolutionized the gaming industry. Rainbow Six had squad based team play. JK DF2 had saber fighting. Warcraft 2 defined the RTS game. Diablo defined the action-RPG genre. I guess when hardware accelerated games first came out, people became interested in seeing just how far the technology could go. Unreal came out and it was gorgeous. The gameplay of Unreal was crap, but the game looked good. Well, we've been buying video card after video card since and its never enough. Look at the trouble JK3 was for many people. If you had recent equipment, great, but many never left the JK2 world. Id software led the industry once with deathmatch. They never have had the glory that Doom 2 gave them ever since. Face it, Id should just sell graphic engines and stay away from trying to design a compelling single player game. Quake sucked, Quake 2 sucked, Quake 3 was really stupid, and Doom 3 sucks big time. We need more than pretty graphics, we need innovations. My search continues... What you can be sure of is that the graphics engine of Doom 3 will become one of the defacto standards in games developed in the future. I just had the mystery source guy tell me that I had a copy under my door at work. And I do. So, er, yeah. I'm not all for stealing software, but if it (and I'm seruious here) shows up under my door, then I have no true problems. Though I am getting a true copy through Best Buy, to be shipped soon. I'm thinking of taking it back. What's the thought here? I didn't steal it, or look to steal it, or ask for it. It just wound up at my door. I know the guy that dropped it off, but that's that. Don't know his name or anything. But anyways, it's a great game so far. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. we got our copies this morning at 10am. it looks really nice so far. story seems a bit lame. so don't buy it unless you want a gory satanic shooter. and you should buy it and not d/l it IMO. _______________ this is the internet, be serious damn it! |

Doom 3 does look fab yea, but a overlooked game rivals it in all aspects.... Chronicles of Riddick - Escape from Butcher Bay.
