It's Raven that are working on Quake 4 (in the D3 engine), so it might be a little while before we see JK4 if they have to complete that first. Still, the thought of a Star Wars game is a rather exciting one. Just imagine the dynamic lighting in saver duels... Speaking of Quake 4, I expect that we'll start to see news and screenshots come out before too long. The only reason we haven't done yet, surely, must be that id wanted all the focus to be on Doom 3. _______________ Q: What do you call a man with bread and butter pudding on his head? I'm just glad that ID finally got something out to replace that overused Q3 engine. With it severe modding capabilities I am sure that several games in the future will use the engine to a great extent. hint..hint.. mabey the next JK game. Well, I did read an interview that said there will be a Quake 4 and that another company is already in the works in RTCW 2 (which I don't beleive will use the Doom engine) _______________ Master of the almighty BOGONE! Omg...i really dont wanna see them playing some other levels...especially the Hell level. @Noob > I think that Doom3 is a revolutionary Game.Well, at least its very...very very well done. Just tell me 3 FPS which had major scare-elements.(besides AvsP2 lol) You wont find any really good FPS with such a great atmosphare like Doom3 has. I dont say that Doom3 defines FPS but its definately one of those Games people will remember. Its atmosphare is as great as Konamis Silent Hill (which was a Scare-Only Action-Adventure)...and that hasnt been seen in any FPS lately.(Just have a look at the 'newer' FPS like > Farcry or Painkiller < ...or even very old Games like Half-Life cant compare to Doom3´s atmosphare) There has been put a lot of effort in the details of the whole Game.The Audio Messages have a complete lenght of approx 45mins and the whole Text you get to read can be printed on 7 pages. No Question stays unanswered and even the Demons gets explained in detail. (I wont mention the Guns here ^^) I dont know which FPS had such a love for detail like Doom3 has. Of course all of those Aspects couldnt really work without a proper Graphic-Engine. You wont get noone scared without any Shadows or dark Areas (the great graphic shows only that Doom3 is the very latest game atm). Like you said already...the main question when buying a new Computer will be now set to > "Will be Doom3 playable (-on highest details) with that Computer?" Its a marking point for the new generation Games that will come out,in the future.Doom3 made a great Jump forward and left everything behind on the Topic > Graphics. All in all...this game definately deserves to get the Title "Doom3" (although people associate the Game-Title "Doom" with pure slauthering and non-stop shooting...and thats why people get surprised when they suddenly realise that Doom3 is not what Doom2 was back in 1995) Oh and correct me if im wrong but... ...wasnt Quake the first Game which had a "free-look" feature? ...and wasnt Quake the first Game which actually even had dynamic damage-skins? got the game, gameplay could be better, i'm a blood fan so that works out, lighting could be a little better and still present the "dark" appearance they're going for. I'm not noticing any major cpu dragging. all in all i get to shoot stuff and not feel the least bit guilty as i'm splashed with blood, i like it. P.S. What I always hope for but hardly ever see is true gaming innovation. Doom 2 had deathmatch, which revolutionized the gaming industry. Rainbow Six had squad based team play. JK DF2 had saber fighting. Warcraft 2 defined the RTS game. Diablo defined the action-RPG genre. I guess when hardware accelerated games first came out, people became interested in seeing just how far the technology could go. Unreal came out and it was gorgeous. The gameplay of Unreal was crap, but the game looked good. Well, we've been buying video card after video card since and its never enough. Look at the trouble JK3 was for many people. If you had recent equipment, great, but many never left the JK2 world. Id software led the industry once with deathmatch. They never have had the glory that Doom 2 gave them ever since. Face it, Id should just sell graphic engines and stay away from trying to design a compelling single player game. Quake sucked, Quake 2 sucked, Quake 3 was really stupid, and Doom 3 sucks big time. We need more than pretty graphics, we need innovations. My search continues... What you can be sure of is that the graphics engine of Doom 3 will become one of the defacto standards in games developed in the future.
