jabba's scene(and some other things) more jabba shots and more (and look for a audio file where you can listen to the modified emperor vader chat in ESB) more changes and info: Episode IV: A New Hope DVD: * Light Sabers changed for Vader versus Ben Kenobi Death Star duel. * TractorBeam control now in Aurebesh. * Han and Greedo scene slightly changed (everyone's seen this). * Jabba the Hutt redone from Special Edition Jabba. * Boba Fett still mugs camera. * Han still steps on tail - "You're a wonderful human being" - still there. (The scene is an improvement over the SE - however, still not great.) Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back * Emperor replaced with Ian McDiarmid. Dialogue in this scene has been slightly modified, indicating either that the Emperor knows it was Luke who nuked the Death Star, or that he is Vader's son. Maybe both. Otherwise, dialogue remains in tact. Emperor's theme from Jedi also added into the scene. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi: * Hayden Christenson has replaced Sebastian Shaw only in the Force Ghost shot. * Line about Leia remembering her mother while talking to Luke on the Ewok Village veranda has either been omitted, or modified. * Naboo has been added to the final planetary celebration montage at the end of the movie. It is a shot very similar to the helicopter shot of Theed in TPM when AATs are moving up the street towards the palace. Original Trilogy Bonus Materials Extras: * Episode III teaser trailer. * Episode III Vader "making of" featurette. * Easter Egg: Warwick Davis short film of Wickett the Ewok fighting Boba Fett on the Death Star II, shot as a gag during the filming of Return of the Jedi. Episode I DVD Re-Release: * Puppet Yoda has been replaced completely by CGI. _______________ -Evil Clown- "We interrupt this program to increase dramatic tension." I dont mind them putting in Hayden so much but changing Boba's voice annoyed me the most. It now sounds kinda wooden, where old Boba's voice had some real attitude to it even when speaking to Vader. They could have just explained that he changed his voice so he would not be associated with the clone's. Do they bother to show these to test audiances or do they just roll the dice, if so they realy lost out in that instance. I don't agree with putting Hayden there He is still his younger self... Shouldn't Yoda and Obi-Wan be their younger selves too then? Maybe a new DVD-box set? got this from theforce.net A NEW HOPE Greedo Shoots First – The most controversial change in the Special Edition was bounty hunter Greedo shooting first at Han Solo in the cantina scene. In this 2nd remake of the scene, Greedo still shoots first though the scene has been tweaked slightly. Han now makes a slight dodge and the shots are almost simultaneous. But no matter how you slice it - the original sequence is still best! Grade: B- Jabba XP – After seeing Episode I's Jabba, fans would be disappointed to see how terrible he looked even in the Special Edition of A New Hope. The team at ILM went back and inserted the updated CGI creature into the film, but he still fails to capture the puppet excellence in Return of the Jedi. This scene begs to be cut altogether even having been improved, Han's lines and the stepping on the tail humor still makes me cringe. Grade: C- The Empire Reads Aurebesh – The most noticeable change in this section is that all of the text on control panels (like the Death Star tractor beam) have been changed to Aurebesh. This is a fantastic change - it gives the series "other worldly" feel and is consistent with the prequels. One of the best, if minor, changes they made. Grade: A Long Cellblock – I was reading Scott's review of the film and hadn't even realized that this minor change had been made. In the background of several shots they've lengthened the hallyway to give the Death Star a larger scale. Nice change, though incredibly minor. Grade: A EMPIRE STRIKES BACK A New Emperor – We saw some spy pictures from long ago of what Ian McDiarmid would look like in Revenge of the Sith. It worried us about the consistency when we first see his debut Empire Strikes Back. This is a great change visually, though the new dialogue dubbing in this scene will surprise many. The Emperor talks about the "son of Skywalker" and how it was his son that was leading the rebellion. This changes everything! We've always thought that Vader didn't know about his children - but he certainly does now. Episode III will most certainly explain this more, though I question the logic of revealing this now and not after the final film was released. All in all though, I still see it as a positive change and a good connection to the prequels. And after Episode III, it will mean even more. Grade: B- Boba's New Voice – This is a terrible change! Boba is now voiced by Morrison, the guy who played the Clones and Jango Fett in the prequels. It makes for a strong connection to the prequels, you could argue, but I don't care since the cool voice of Boba is gone. This could have been left in as it was - it was forgivable. Grade: D No Screaming Luke – Thank the maker! In the Special Editions, as Luke is falling down the chasm on Cloud City, he lets out a wuss cry for help. Thankfully in this DVD release it has been removed and we all can think of him as a bit tougher now. If they could just change the Greedo scene back, we'd all be happy. Well, not too happy, that just isn't possible as a true Star Wars fan. Grade: A RETURN OF THE JEDI Dying Anakin – I'm just glad they didn't put Hayden's face in the costume. I honestly fully expected them to do that. Fortunately, they just made some digital alterations to his face to match the final SW movie. Good stuff. Grade: A- Naboo Celebration – This is just a quick shot - and I'm glad. It gives the "big universe" picture and also ties together the prequels. I'm beginning to notice a trend here. Lucas forces this planet and the inhabitants on us again, and you can hear one of the Gungans yelling in the background. Interesting. Grade: B- The Jedi Temple – I wish this would have been destroyed in the prequels - for all of the action that will take place in Revenge of the Sith there it may be cool to see it still towering over Corusant at the end of the films. Even if you don't like this idea, remember it is a quick shot. Most people probably wouldn't even notice if they weren't told. Grade: B- The Ghost of Hayden – This is the strangest addition and undoubtedly will make more sense after Episode III. Once a Jedi turns to the Dark Side their spirit remains at the stage when they turned, apparently. Hayden is a great addition to the film - the circle is now complete - though I have to admit on first viewing everyone went "huh?" Grade: B Other Changes – The Rancor looks much better and the trash compactor monster is adjusted a bit. The lightsabers look fantastic (Does Luke have a green saber now?) and have all been adjusted to look more realistic. There are tons of tweaks and just the digital restoration itself is a major visual effect. Grade: A _______________ -Evil Clown- "We interrupt this program to increase dramatic tension." Got my copy as well - short on time, but to the question "does Greedo still shoot first" for Episode IV: the scene has massively improved. They almost shoot at exactly the same time now. Edit: Also, for Episode V: Luke's sissy boy scream when dropping from Cloud City is gone again! Yay! This comment was edited by Mookie on Sep 21 2004 07:06am. |

I got my copy and have watched all three. I'm just going to confirm or deny anything I noticed from the list, some of the stuff I haven't got anything to reference it against so I’m not sure. Ep IV Han still steps on tail - True Ep V Not sure on this one, don't think I was paying attention. Ep VI Hayden Christenson has replaced Sebastian Shaw only in the Force Ghost shot. - True Line about Leia remembering her mother while talking to Luke on the Ewok Village veranda has either been omitted, or modified. - False, I think. As far as I can remember it the same Naboo has been added to the final planetary celebration montage at the end of the movie. It is a shot very similar to the helicopter shot of Theed in TPM when AATs are moving up the street towards the palace. - True _______________ Bro of many in a very deformed family tree || Formerly a Padawan of Motrec, Kenyon & Aphex AKA Quiet Guardian, QG and Coogie |

Yeah, the whole 15-20 years of not doing a star wars movie got to his head O_o plus he's pretty old now, like 50 or 60 so i don't think he would have been as creative as he was. I really really hope they don't change the original stuff, but make episode 3 cool and make sense with the originals |
3th - Retired |
Lucas is a lazy ass, instead of having to work harder to make the new movies make sense with the originals he'd rather go back and change the originals!?!?!? i think that is the epitome of pathetic for a film maker. absolutly no responsibility to his own writing. friggen lame _______________ this is the internet, be serious damn it! |
