There are very few guides about how do skin well, just remember how it will wrap on the model, and know how to draw realistically with photoshop. http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=87386 Some help with the latter here. Modeling I'll split this up into several sections. Player Modeling You will need 3DS Max to do this, which isnt cheap. Get the JK3 editing tools: http://jediknight.filefront.com/file.info?ID=18807 http://jediknight.filefront.com/file.info?ID=18604 Getting it to work. To do this effectively you really need to know how to model beforehand, and it's not easy. If you want to start modeling and you havent done it before, I advise you look at one of the other sections. Hilt Modeling You will probably want milkshape for this. http://www.massassi.com/coffeestain/03.html How to get your saberhilt from milkshape to JK2/3. http://www.btinternet.com/~howe_alison/brothers/tutorial/gmax_jkii_tutorial.htm An excellent hilt tutorial. Again you will need to learn to model seperately. Don't worry, i'll post some general milkshape or 3ds max tutorials at the end. No, 3DS Max does NOT do maps for JK2/3. The map editor is GTKRadiant. 3DS Max only does visual aspects of things, whereas Radiant also includes things like script triggers and spawn points, and automatically compiles your map into the BSP format. Complex map features like irregular terrain can be done with plugins for Radiant. An example is one that imports a grayscale heightmap and turns it into a terrain brush. _______________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

GTKRadiant has bugs too. If it doesn't work, don't worry, just reinstall. Yes, I know this may already be above, but you can download radiant here. Just select a mirror. Anyway, as I was going to say, you can make a map in a model, but I dunno how good it would be. Basically, you make the model, get somebody else to add it to a new map, then pack it up. Again, I'm not too sure of how it would look - You wouldn't be able to use map functions, unless the mapper added those too. However, I strongly suggest that you stick with radiant. |

Question: I have 3DS MAX 5... and last time i tried, qtradient didnt work on my computer. would i still be able to use the tutorials and sorta, transpose them into max, or is there a tutorial for doing that.. or should i just stop whining and try again with the radient? _______________ When you become an actor, you become the person, and you dont act anymore. ok, so you can't install? In that case, be sure that you've given all the correct maps, when he asked for the JK3 map, give him the correct folder (which is your base folder) and so on for every game he asks for Also, make sure you have downloaded the right version the 1-4.0 for Windows, I take it? http://www.qeradiant.com/?data=files&files_id=77 That's the correct link to download from. It cant be used for Player Models as you cant weight the model to the skeleton in GMax.
