I may just return. What basically stopped me was my subscription/commitment to other games.

imo, Raids are the pinnacle of co-op PvE MMO play if done well.

They are great fun when done with friends ... the first time.

For me, the fun is being the first to do a raid by figuring out the puzzle.

After that it's boring.

I do find it a challenge to lead different groups in the same raid and also optimizing runs as opposed to plodding through the first one. Server firsts are not my thing... Too much pressure and time to level up a character to max, not enjoying the game imo, and then expecting your friends to do the same in order to have a full group to run a raid.

SWTOR PvP is great, just that it has gotten to a point where if you aren't in a pre-made, you are at a serious disadvantage due to the prevalence of sub-par PvPers that aren't even geared correctly.

The Operations in TOR are fine, they just don't offer much that hasn't been seen before. Doesn't mean they aren't polished and fun to play. Considering how popular the things are I'm not surprised they are being used as an incentive.

The class story being accessible is the same as LotRO's 'books' being accessible, but if you don't get planet quests included with that you wouldn't be able to level up on class quests alone.

I guess raids... aka operations and those kinds of things, but I do agree that it doesn't seem all that compelling. But then again, it's me :p

well it clearly states that class story content up to level 50 will be accesable.
but honestly... whats the point in checking others things out if you pretty much get the main feature of the whole game?
pvp? other random crap? other games that were in the bussiness for a longer time does that better.

LOTRO has a 3 account level F2P system: Free, Premium (paid for something in a microtransaction or downgraded from VIP), and VIP (subscriber). SWTOR just has Free and Premium (subscriber). I'm rather curious if the Cartel store will be used to limit quest content. LOTRO requires that you buy quest packs beyond the first few regions if you aren't a subscriber. In a way, the Free and Premium players "own" portions of the game in LOTRO whereas the VIP players "rent" the full game but lose quest access to zones requiring purchase if they downgrade. As far as I can tell with SWTOR, the class story arcs are totally free. The planet missions could possibly be from some dev comments.

Yeah I was really surprised at the ambiguity surrounding planet based content as well. Personally I think the Turbine, or LotRO, system (which for all intents and purposes is being adopted here) works well so it'll be interesting to see how TOR handles it.

I still think the only reason they didn't launch the game with this system is that they knew they would draw in a huge number of subs for the first x amount of months. I do suspect this change is happening sooner than planned however, I imagine they were aiming for about 1 mill subs for a year or something.

Regardless F2P works well for hotkey style MMORPGs and this is only a good thing, there isn't even the LotRO lifetime sub controversy.
