Jedi Academy Six Month Anniversary -doobie - Nov 17 01:55am |

Today truly is a historical day, as the Jedi Academy celebrated it's 6-month anniversary of being open. That's right, it was 6 months ago today, the 17th, that I completed the first test version of the site and posted it to our Jediknightii.net address for the then-leader JediSith999 to approve, which he did. This was also right around the time that DJ Sith joined the Academy, first as a server host alone, but then as the webmaster (as it became clear that JediSith999 was leaving and my web design skills, well, sucked compared to DJ's). It was little more than 2 weeks later that we opened for trainer applications.
As part of a mini-celebration for this fairly impressive anniversary (considering I would not have been shocked if this place died within a month), I've posted the original site design for your enjoyment and my embarassment. I do have to say, however, that a lot of the ideas I had for content have stayed around, including our tag line at the end... but the visual appeal of the site has definitely improved since then! Be forewarned, however, that a lot of the stuff is broken, including the email addresses for me and JediSith999 (the @academy.jediknightii.net email addresses were too much of a hassle to deal with). Now for a bit of news on the future of the site. Our dear friend, Mapboy Derelict Crusader is alive and has posted a zip file of screenshots for the map expansion. He also sent me this in the mail: I'm uploadin' some new screenshots as I write this... Just know that I'm still at it 
PS - The dark areas in the screenshots are not final, I still have to add A LOT of light entities... Ummmm I guess you can post these just to reassure the people that it's slowly getting there. 
And one more thing... if you're wondering who was the first OFFICIAL batch of Jedi Academy members, look for for a number that's less than 100 (or so) in their profile ID. Those are the original originals! |

Not fair..i'm number 109, but i can't find any active members before whoever said they were number 69, so i think i'm about the 3rd or 4th oldest active member..hehe....anyway i actually remember seeing that site massa, when i first found the academy that was the website, it wasn't that bad back then, i couldn't do anybetter with Raw HTML so good job hehe
*EDIT* yep its offical i'm right after datheus, so whatever he is i'm next. Everyone inbetween him and i are either no longer members, or just inactive that i've never seen in my entier tiem being here, o wait i saw darkblade in there somewhere but i can't remember if he was after or before me. I'm number 23. Boo ya. I'm like Mr. Low number. But that's aside from the point. It's great that the academy has finally made it to its half year anniversery. Great people have really made this place endure, and I stand by this judgement. The sense of friendship I get from this place is great. Thanks to all the people that have made my time here so special. |

actually, looking at those previews helped out....
very cool...I like the darkness sorta, to really bring out visual effects (like when Anakin cut the power cable in Episode 2 duel versus Dooku, the visual effect was the whole reason Lucas had Anakin cut that) I just like the shadows a bit more. But then again...you could add a simple white-wall room with a nifty statue in it, and I'd be happy. [what, there isn't a white room with a nifty statue?...well that's just great] ah....tooo little sleep...but everyone gets SOME amount of goofy posts, right? _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. |
