Ahoy everyone, it's your old chum Doobie here... saw this article on one of my many gaming-related sites and felt like it was a good one for my homies in the JA to check out. I'm getting hte feeling that The Force Unleashed is going to be the spiritual successor to the Jedi games we've known and loved for years round these parts. Sure, it's for the consoles, but between you and I, I've used my xbox 360 a whole lot more for gaming recently than my pc (I can't afford to upgrade, not that my 4 year old beast of a laptop has any upgrade options). Oh and speaking of beasts... just a heads up, the article is a looooooong one! |

I said spiritual successor, not sequel... I'm not dumb enough to think this will be the next JKA game, I'm just accepting that there probably won't be one (at least not for a while) and this is the next best thing  _______________ -Academy Leader/Dictator/Defeater of DJ Sith and JACen Solo in the JAK+ Tournament -I do think it (the JA) will help convert dozens, maybe hundreds, to the dork nation... --me |

The console basis for this game will need some massive simplification. Something which I am very much against in all games. I've already read that article, I thought it was pretty good, not just because of the TFU details. This isn't set to continue the Dark Forces series style, at least not wholey.
As others have mentioned the multiplayer and modding aspects will either not exist or be completely different, also the saber system is seemingly closer to a refined Episode III game, or (hopefully) something resembling the combat in the Soul Calibur series - the next installment of which incidentally will include Yoda and Darth Vader as playable characters. There are two things that I have heard that make this game seem similar to the classic DF/JK games: Its story, which seems more cinematic, well formed and crucial than to other hack and slash SW console games. And also the way the player can choose their force powers as the game progresses, something Jedi Knight 1 in particular did well. Overall its just too hard to tell whether this game will meet its hype at this point, until the reviews start hitting or until i've played it myself i'm waiting on the fence. I agree with Masta on TFU not being a sequel to JKA. If there will be a computer version, then I may change my mind, but right now, it appears to be a console game. I stopped with the whole console thing back in the days of the original NES since it costs a good bit of money. You miss the point. You can't have a spiritual sequel to jka on a console because the gameplay is too complex for a pad - heavy simplification is in order, and that's exactly what is going to make the game very un-jka-like.
