Hey there and "Welcome to the Jedi Academy!" More than likely you've allready recieved a bundle of greetings from all kinds of people. I hope this shows a good first impression and you take a little mental note that this community is far different than most. Now seeing as you've just got here your probably still a little confused as to what to do first. I'll make it as simple as i can. Getting Started In the Academy we learn and play. We're primarily here to learn how to become respectable and skilled jedi's of the Jedi Knight games. However, fun comes in as a major part of the things we do here! So enjoy your time here by learning as much as you can but remember to have fun as well! If you want to leave a message on someones profile then you can either go to the About Us page which you can find on the drop-down menus at the top of the website. Or you can click on the users picture or name and you will be taken straight to his profile, leave a comment there if you want them to notice it. A comment on your own profile is liable to be missed. Now obviously we spend alot of time learning here, you can get a lot of good classes from our great Jedi Knights and Instructors (see About Us link). There's even a few classes from one of our Council members! Secondly, you can't go to the classes until you have the servers in your favourites list in JK3. So go to the server page and get the ones that appeal to you. Note: make sure you download the Academy_V2 map and anything else that Virtue says is important. You really only need that map but in the future there may be more things that are vital to getting onto the servers. Finally, you may want to go to chat with some of us! To do this go to the chat page and it'll log you on. You might have to enter your name so just put in your JA name. Usually it does it for you! Things to know and tips All you really need to know is to keep a level head and be nice. Flaming isn't really tolerated but we welcome your opinions on the forums. We really are nice people, however seeing as we are so vast there is allways a possibility that someone somewhere is having a hard time in real life, so have a little patience and you'll go far! Keep up a good attitude and you'll be welcomed like a godsend. Keep up the flaming and the insults (that includes swearing, we don't like it..) and you'll get a one-way ticket to bansville! I know you'll be a great addition to the Academy and I look forward to seeing you in or around the servers. Supposing that is how you found the site, if not then i'll see you in my forum hopping! Remember, have fun when your learning and when your not! Ranks The ranks we have at the Academy are there for a very good reason. The Academy is huge and there are but few Jedi Knights. The reason for this is because only the people with the best skill, knowledge, patience and most important of all; attitude are chosen. When they have passed the extremely straining and testing trials then they become a Jedi Knight. Someone with recognised authority who has the ability to take on padawans who will learn from them in a specific style, whilst these padawans may appear to be a higher rank they are not. They have no more privileges than you do! A padawan gains a direct approach to training in the same style as their master. (Jedi Knights have a strict and busy schedule.. and they're still human so please don't meither to become a padawan. Ask nicely and be patient) Whereas, students are free to learn whatever style they want and do not have the responsiblity to turn up for padawan sessions. Training as a student is more free. Also: all knights were at one point students so there are lots of students out there that know alot and can help. Don't rely on the JAK's for training and teaching. If you want, get hold of me sometime and i can give you some pointers. (Remember there are classes for a reason ) Our Knights, Instructors and Council members (Even our staff... trying to be as modest as possible) are all great examples of what you should strive to be if you want to help the Academy. Which brings me onto another point, the Academy relies on help from its own community! If you think you can help and you want to then thats what you should do! You can help in many ways and training to be a Knight is one of them. There are other ways, for example I help by writing articles for the Academy so that the other ranked members have more time to do other things. Thats all I have to say, there is much more to the Academy than this.... and I hope all this has not put you off, but hopefully made you more determined to learn and become the best ever to come to the Academy. Both in skill and in yourself! A few important links I didn't mention! Holocron - Good source of information on the game, well.. it will be as soon as its revamped and updated Rules - Self-Explanatory. You really need to read these so you don't get into trouble! We may appear to have strict rules but its to make sure you have fun! Donations - From my experience this page is very overlooked. You DO NOT need to donate, i just thought i'd mention that its there! _______________ -Padawan of Virtue -Brother of Menaxia, *|irael, Krynn Adept, Majno, Ris Win Juljul, DaMi3N, Beowulf, Dash Starlight, Carrock and Yuken Zalak Bartender at Munes bar.
