Picture this, no problems with Hardy then, boom, I install Ibex and nothing works any more. Can't remember specifically what programs I'm referring to but there were a few. Furthermore everything I installed had to be reconfigured before it would work. Furthermore, I had a few crashes (I know, bizarre huh? linux doesn't crash...). Anyhow I installed Jaunty and all the problems disappeared, the basic system font was actually nice (yep, sorry but I'm not a fan of the font on Ibex or Hardy , but the font on Jaunty is appealing). A managed to get the whole compiz set up working with no lags or memory overloads. Aside from that everything else is really fast . The one downside I'm experiencing is power consumption. Ever since I installed Jaunty the battery capacity has been incredibly small (then again I haven't done an appropriate evaluation of the consumption without graphic effects enabled). Also I think I've worn out the battery pretty bad just from my AC treatment habits :/. Anyhow I think you should definitely give Jaunty a test drive.
