I would say that the longer you work on something, the more anxious you become about it, and the less effective your writing becomes. Get up, drink some caffine, slam your head against a wall untill you pass out, and then try to write. Actually, try drinking some Earl Grey or Green Tea, I have found that those help clear out my mind the best. Also, if you have a local coffe shop that sells it, a good hot cup of Chai tea is good for the mind. Its an indian tea served with milk, offering a touch of spice on it's way down.
