Megatron was a decepticon, but he had a huge fight with optimus prime. Prime was killed, but Megatron was severely damaged. When the Decepticons were on their way back to Cybertron, which they had conquered, they tossed all the injured Decepticons off the ship. Megatron was one of them. He came across Unicron, who turned him into Galvatron, and turned some of the other injured Decepticons into Scourge etc. Galvatron was never destroyed in the movie, but I haven't seen him get destroyed in anything else  |
