OKay so the problem with our interwebsnet is this: It was slow about 9 weeks ago. So one of my brilliant brothers decided to mess with it. And by mess with it, I mean unplug it and not keep track of which wires went where. I'll try to explain the setup in the main house. We have/had a cable line come into a cable modem. From there it splits into...3 different routers. One feeds another router downstairs in the basement of the house. The other two seem to be plugged into the rest of the house. From the basement, internet goes out to our house (about...50 feet away) and hits another router which splits it into our various rooms, and also feeds a line across the driveway to the other house (30 feet from where it comes out of our house to where it goes in theirs). It hits one last router there and splits into their wall sockets. No one on the property had internet, so we suspect that it was a f**kup on the main router but it's hard to tell. The internet company people we had won't help us, and the only other company in the area we can use (for legal reasons which I won't leave as a post) is Verizon, who doesnt offer DSL in our area.
