I thought long and hard about how to describe Pink Floyd_Mintaka's (winner of a variety of awards including my own MPAG award for pure genius) various, numerous, contributions to this academy in this long overdue comment. Weaponsmith, musician, mapper, mentor, joint creator of the Mintaka's, superb duelist, helpful, and more than anything, an all round fun guy. It was a daunting task.

So to The Floydster (aka Old Man Mintaka, That Bloke Who Likes Ninjas, Pinky etc.) I can only say... What a guy.

Here's #5000.

**HARRY POTTER SPOILER WARNING TO ANYONE WHO MAY READ THIS**

** SERIOUSLY, IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BOOK SEVEN AND WANT TO, YOU BETTER TURN AWAY**

** I MEAN IT!**

Well, if they did that then every one would be sad (Except Pansy Parkinson of course :P) and most likely dead. Because remember, Harry " died" before Voldemort made his way to the castle. Plus, if she killed Harry, we would have never seen " Albus Severus". I mean seriously, thats the most adorably sentimental name EVAR.

From down the back of my virtual armchair where its been hiding from me for too long. :P

Hehe no, seriously i'm sorry its so late getting to you, I was so busy over the summer that it took a long time to prepare the various parts of it. :)

You can never be too kind, and its all true hehe, greatest review ever though? nawww. I'm glad you like it all :D

Thats cool bro, I know how busy school (and its respective social life) can make a person ;) Just get back to me whenever you can, i'd love to hear some more music. Whenever yours comes on my shuffle it sounds just at proffesional as most of the music before it!

I'd be happy to judge any music you send me to the best of my ability. :)

See you around buddeh!

p.s Oh I will/have been. :P:D

>_> <_< >_>

*cough*:

Trilogy of the Times - Pink Mintaka, A long overdue review.

1) A Prelude to Something You Might Enjoy: A nice simple, understated intro.

2) A Remedy: Second track starts out almost with an isolated alone feeling to it, nice riff. As the background music comes in it rises bringing the listener with it - a good effect, a remedy you might say.

3) Improv on the Third: I love the strange but wonderful intro to improv, the whole song gives the album a brilliantly universal air, sounding almost eastern in origin. Different but i like it, good experimentation.

4) Thinking on the Inside of the Box: This has a brilliant opening as well, the tune you have put together for 'thinking...' works so well i could honestly see it used in any number of 'more proffesional' albums, really goes to show you have talent. The fading out to the synth works well to break the flow, as does the various other

5) A Synthy Smorgasbord for Sally: Very synthy (surprisingly hehe), can imagine listening to it in a top notch sci fi game or film in the background, the noise (not sure what to call it!) thats underlayed beneath it makes the song strangely twisted, but it works. Yay for the crazy sound at the end, reminds me of a comedian who uses it (sounds like a moog) works well and adds to the song.

6) Maroon Balloon: I LOVE maroon balloon, probably one of my favourites on the album. Its got edge. Which for a balloon is impressive. The drums work great as does the percussion. Interesting use of what i like to call the 'ohhhs' but they also fit the song well. The end is triumphant!

7) Twilight: Ah Twilight, possibly my OTHER favourite on the album. The intro is positivley haunting, reminding me of its inspiration (i believe you mentioned it was partly inspired by zelda anyway) and the dramatic scenes from that. The song builds up, which is always impressive, and the piano is magnificant in it.

8) Turtle: Turtle is one of my least favourite tracks, its just a bit too jarry. Makes me think of mario a bit though for some reason

9) Regibald the Gnome: Ah Reg, the first time you hear this its quite an experience. Like being assaulted by a drunken gnome weilding a fishing pole - although maybe thats the intention hehe. I like it, its very frantic as if its trying to say everything at once. The interlude about half way through, is a bit crazy, but this is a fun track in certain circumstances.

10) Mousetrap: Again like the intro (your great at these lol) I like the title as well, the guitar (?) sounds awesome, as does the (strings? lol im rubbish at this) yay vocals! (kind of) this track makes me think massive attack or tricky, even portishead. It all gets a little odd for a minute about 1/4 of the way through, but it works and creates and interesting change of tack for the song. Back to the Twilight-like percussion that i love, haunting stuff. The water/bird/cave noises are cool as well, i like the way they are used. The music in that poitn reminds me of running water or something, very emotive.

11) Poem: This is a great track. Very old fashioned compared to some of the other more synthy tracks, but if anything all the better for it, makes me think of old fashioned ball rooms and opera houses etc. If you composed this yourself you should be proud, its really good. I think it fits with the summer quite well, i get all lost in thought while listening to it. And yes im terrible at actually reviewing an album lol. I love the way it fades out half way through, very melancholy, beautiful really. Its quite long but deservedly so

12) Part Won: Part won, while short, always make me think of intelligent thrller or myster dramas i have seen for some reason. Good stuff.

13) Part For: Part For is etheral, i love the (cymbals) at the start, builds things up nicely. The drums sounds awesome as well. Actually i really like this song, im a sucker for songs that have a clever build up and this one does it brilliantly, the piano coming in, the synth, oh its damn good. quite dramatic really, in a good way. I would say i'd like for you to really build something up to well an explosion so to speak, give it oompf, you do the quiet build up, and the synth and everything really well but id love to hear one of your tracks build up to a louder even more dramatic moment.

14) From the Depths of your Imagination: Love the title again, you have a knack for these as well. Creepy start, makes me think of The Horrors, although you probably havnt heard of them. its got an insidious sound that gets inside your head and refuses to get out. I like it. Really does make me use my imagination, which is always a good thing. I like the combination of effects used throughout this track, makes me think Thom Yorke/Radiohead/Pink Floyd/ even The Residents. Good stuff.

15) The Essence of Aaron's Idiocy (Parts 1,2,3,4 Part Three): Haha brilliant stuff, it goes from fairground, to rock, to stephen hawking in a minute. Crazy. I always like tracks that experiement with voices over the music like this, its clever, and the fairground style music really gives this an odd haunting feeling to it. This is just the kind of song i can imagine finding on a proffesional album as an experimental aside. Good work.

16) Nebula: Strange liquid start, but it works! Very outer space, which given the title isn't unexpected. Although without the title it also makes me think of the deep sea. It gives the impression of vast space, and emptiness. Then the clock/windchime/acordian type noises start and it all goes a bit outter limits. Its like listening to a psychological thriller in space from the safety of your own mind.I love the slight change just over half way through, its magical really, its as if you were deep in the sea, or lost in a cloud and you start rising from it free of the isolation and restraints it brought. Then you have a moment of flourish which it builds to brilliantly, all in all this track finishes excellently, even going so far as to remind me of some of the best work Philip Glass has done. The flourish itself is almost exactly what i was calling for in Part For, dramatic, louder, exciting. I can see this all going places.

Round up:

Basically i love this album. I have three albums on my hard drive from Pink_Mintaka now, and i can see how far you have come in such a short time. From promising beginnings and catchy tunes, to something that shows you could genuinly have a real future in music. Some of your music on this album hints at you right now being able to apply to do music for computer games (underrated buisness) but others suggest even more, with great sweeping piano moments and fantastic atmosphere. It has the potential of other great bands from massive attack to radiohead to pink floyd themselves. So in that respect you should be proud. From a sheer musical standing point it is impressive too, the piano is excellent, the synth well used, the percussion well placed and executed, and more than anything your use of building up these layers on some tracks shows you have an eye for composing a song.

All in all im not a brilliant musical journalist, and i could have spent more time making this amazing, but i hope you can see ive spent time absorbing your music, and making sure i give you some (hopefully) valuable feedback. I shall be sharing Trilogy with some friends/family if thats okay, as i think they'll like it.

Lastly i'd like to appologise at the time it has take to actually write this. Its inexcusable really, i have been very busy with life the universe and everything of late, but i should still have made time. I hope this is still of use to you. I was originally planning to make this comment #5000 but its so damn long it would be a pain if it was stickied lol.

Keep up the great work Pink.
