Your pic is pretty cool too...

Nah, I don't play it, and have never played online regularly. To tell the truth, I haven't even finished the SP game, but don't tell anyone! :)

I use Gimp for all my graphics editing. It comes with Linux, but there's also a Windoze port. Gimp is free and open-source, and you can get it at gimp.org.

The process of making the lightsabre effect is called rotoscoping, and there's a Gimp script that does it for you. Google for it or drop me a line, and I'll post it. Basically you just use the Select tool to highlight the area you want rotoscoped, i.e. the sabre blade, then run the script. I also used it for the lightning effect when I did the picture of Charlie shooting lightning bolts out of his fingers.

He knows a little bit about how to use the mouse but doesn't use it for JK3. Incidentally he started on Jedi Outcast just before he turned three.

On the old Academy map in the JK2 days he was fascinated by my jumping up on top of the obelisk (something I really miss, btw!). I suspect I had the only two year-old in the world who knew the word "obelisk." He was briefly concerned that the Jedi's daddy would take away his lightsabre because everybody knows you're not supposed to swing things around indoors. I'm actually not thrilled with the idea of a preschooler playing computer games, but he was absolutely fascinated by it, so I let him try it. (I limit him to about half an hour a week of playing, and you gotta admit the picture is adorable.) I launch a multiplayer server with maximum players of one, so he can just run around the map to his heart's content with nobody trying to kill him.

When he was two-almost-three he could hardly navigate his way down a hallway. Now he finds his way around easily. He uses the arrow keys to move. He hasn't learned about strafe moves yet, and he hasn't gotten to where he'll hold down two arrow keys at once for a diagonal move, but he has figured out that he can hold down jump and forward at once to jump on top of something. I try to pick maps without a lot of places where you can fall off a ledge and die.
