In your 2 vs 2 tourny, you state that everyone start at 100 hp/100 shields. It is possible for a person to go above 100 shields which isn't viewable unless you change the hud style. The max shield power is 200 and slowly decreases (1 pt every second) until it drops to 100. People who don't have the right hud will not know they are actually above 100 shields, so they might not know they have an advantage.
