Opening Statement: The foundation to anything that one wants to learn is the most important first step. The purpose of this course is to supply ALL the basic fundamentals to the Staff Saber. Students will have fun and learn in the process! Topics: For each week, a certain topic will be covered in class. It should take roughly 30 mins to teach the topic, and the last 30 mins would be to practice the topic. The four topics would be the following: Week 1: Basic Animation Swings Week 2: Basic Combos Week 3: Preanimated Movements and Specials Week 4: Final Exam Animations Swings will focus on the 8 cardinal directions along with attack being pressed once with a direction, and with attack being held down with a direction. Basic combos will go through the rudimentary(spelling) set of combos a staffer can use. Preanimated Movements works with the animations predefined for the Staffer and the combination of directions to execute them. The Specials are the keys pressed in conjunction with one another to execute the Specials. Final Exam puts weeks 1 - 3 together and will allow me to give feedback. Extra Info: Punctuality is a must in order for everyone to get the most out of this class. Showing up for all 4 sessions, to cover all the topics, is a plus as well. At the end of each class, I will write a follow-up after class to post what was gone over for that day's class. Students will be advised to look over the Staff Holocron section as a source of FAQ. I will also post who attended the class afterwards to allow for others to see who was present to practice with during off-time. Final note: I'm looking for JA Members to attend who are seriously eager in learning the Staff Saber Style. For those familiar with my class back when I taught this as a JAK will know WHAT I dedicate the last 5 minutes to. We're going to learn, and we're going to have fun, period. Hadn't had the chance to do this, but Week 2's session had the following folks there: Malak Piccolo We covered Basic Combo's 1, 2, and 3. Combo 1 is a combination of Upleft and Upright swings. In essence, you hold Up on the keyboard and just alternate Left and Right all the while keeping Attack held down. Combo 2 uses Left and Right swings. Keeping attack held, the staffer will bounce between the Left and Right swings. Combo 3 is the reverse of Combo 1. Downright and Downleft are the swings used and staffers will back up and swing back and forth. Once we went over the combos, the students fought each other with nothing but the combos. Week 1 under our belt and it started off great for this time slot. We had 4 folks that showed up. Mugen Sirius (Darth Sirius) BlackDragon Tigerclaw We went over the Half and Full Animations for a staffer. A Half Animation is defined as pressing attack (left click by default) and a direction, but only once. It will result in one swing in a certain direction. The Full Animation is the same as the Half, except you keep Attack and the direction pressed/held down. The Staffer will then repeat the swing, but in between, a "Filler" animation will connect the two. We discussed the uses of the swings and situations for them to be used in during a duel. After about 40 minutes of lesson and discussion, we broke off into pairs and dueled using ONLY the Half and Full Animations. It was a tough challenge, but the students rose to the cause, and accomplished the task at hand. 2 more classes for Week 1 remain. If you missed it, you still have an opportunity to attend.
