Dont worry of course the engine will be updated from NWN 2, and the engine has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the graphics (sorta). _______________ Padawan to the great Jacen Aratan! <Setementor> Scythus is a genius! True HW, but one thing that is a MUST for newer games...are good GFX.They dont have to be the best but they should at least be good... Things like > Graphic, Sound AND Gameplay < are those aspects on which ppl are rating games...and the developers wanna make cash of course...to make cash, they have to compete with other RPGs. They cant remain on the same GFX level for years...it would mean a disadvantage on the market which would result in less selled copys and less money (dont get me wrong...i aint someone whos looking only for money or something...but i think those developers are...) Truth is, that the gameplay is maybe the most valuable aspect of a game... Ppl can say > OMG this game here has so very leet gfx....its the best ever (IE doom3) < ...but the game can be crap because it lacks a good gameplay. Actually, a game with good gameplay but crap gfx (ie Half-Life) is better then a game with leet gfx but crap gameplay (ie Unreal2). Nevertheless...both are important aspects on which NO developer would/should invest less efforts. _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! Quote: Same Engin... Doesn't that mean same GFX? I hope not ![]() Thing is. I think your prioroties are off. If you boosted the gfx settings to max the game is really beutiful, but thats not the point. In a game like NWN the graphics are secondary. What makes it great is the dynamic systems it contains. If you want sweet graphics you will find the best in fps games. ![]() /HW _______________ ::Nothing wrong with a little shooting.....as long as the right people get shot:: |

Nope...same engine doesnt mean same GFX. Just take Max Payne for example...MP1 and MP2 had both the same engine...the difference in GFX is HUGE tho. _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! Married to Kain. |

Biowares next game (Dragon Age, NWN 2 is not being developed my Bioware, but by Obsidan) has a new cool looking engine which enables large scale battles and lighting. Sry uhm...i might have somekinda...missed the sky then? Im sure its just me... And i somehow get it now...nwn has MP which makes it so popular i guess? Well...i enjoyed the SP...it wasnt as that bad (besides some side-quests)...some landscapes were really great (IE the forest <3) and the sound of the rain was just awesome. Nevertheless...its no "best-choice" game...and i hope that bioware is going to learn from their mistakes and do a second "kotor" in form of nwn2 =) _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! Oh. Right. I play Savage Frontier, but I've lost interest a bit in that server because you always have to wait 30 mins before somebody runs up to you and RPs... And I've RPed 999x but it wasn't until I sang a friggen song in elvish in the middle of nowhere before I was rewarded. -.- _______________ slorp |

Meep! Skies have been in NWN for a very, very long time. As for the storyline... Bioware decided that after being an epic hero of Neverwinter, that SoU place, and Waterdeep (HotU), they couldn't decide what they'd make after being a level 40-n00b k1ll3r. So it's a new place. They're also planning on making a place you can build in-game and stuff... it's like a home or something... it makes my head hurt just thinking about it. ![]() And Baldur's Gate 1/2... was... immortal... _______________ slorp |

Quote: Those pics are really...wow...lol I mean...damn never saw anything like that in nwn! Are they from nwn2 or something? Well...then at least theyve changed that >_> Once ive been using some tools to change the camera perspective a bit...and looked up ingame. Guess what? No sky textures...and why? Easy...because of the old-school-rpg-looking-from-above perspective...who needs a sky there? So > grey skies...i immediately changed it back then =P The warping around the place thingy is a common and well known bug in the nwn engine...all addons had it..and kotor had it too.Its not lag or something...it happens when your char cant reach the opponent soon enough or something...then he just warps to them and engages in battle...dunno if ive just explained that correctly. Well, about the perspective...thats something that bugs me a bit...maybe not only a bit. I mean...nearly every hack-n-slay RPG does have it...its boring. It looks like Diablo with other plot and graphics to me...dont like it at all... Maybe its just me but...i like great RPGs like Gothic or Morrowind (which are hack-n-slay too) much more then this looking-from-above style RPGs... That might just be the way that it was build. Just that specific mod. You can add and texture a skybox. And it looks rather nice... /HW _______________ ::Nothing wrong with a little shooting.....as long as the right people get shot:: |

Grey skies? http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/transfer/pictures/HAKPACKS_Doyleyboy1048274214980Montage2.jpg Dunno about 'warping around in combat', probably lag or something, never happened to me. And the age of the engine hardly matters. I believe Rome Total War uses a pretty unchanged engine to shogun, but correct me if I am wrong. NWN was Bioware's worst ever storyline. Baldur's Gate 1/2 being the best. KOTOR was ok, but rather cliché. And the camera perspective is fine, its what all RPG's use except KOTOR pretty much. Dungeon Siege Baldur's Gate etc. _______________ Padawan to the great Jacen Aratan! <Setementor> Scythus is a genius! Nice. More RP:ing for me..![]() I personaly have no issues with the current engine. It's just a matter of tweaking. And i belive they will deal with that for the new game. To give it a "fresh2 look. lol 2006...wow *cough The Neverwinter Nights engine was pretty bad...especially the "grey-invisible" sky...and especially all this warping when engaging an enemy...the list goes on and on... Well, kotor was build by bioware too (you could see that on the D&D system..and on pretty all things...ive noticed it really early in the game...IE you make a choice and gain dark or light points...like in nwn ^^...or the chests...the list goes on and on =P) but it was so very well made...i didnt knew that bioware actually learned from their mistakes that they did in nwn (IE similar and boring quests...the bad camera perspective) Well...maybe they are goin to use an other engine. I mean, the nwn engine will be like 4 years old by then...who wanna buy a game with such an old engine when the market will be flooded with games that use high-end engines like the hl2 and doom3 ones? Anyway...i had fun playin nwn (especially in the co-op mode ^^) ...i cant think of a plot that could be done in the sequel...maybe its gonna be just a completly new game...we will see. _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here!
