Hi all...
Just to make sure this ISN'T the case, I've picked up some rumors of others NOT in the Belouve Family using the last name Belouve. I really keep the name as something that is a privalege extended to my Padawans, etc. So if someone just "takes" the name, it loses the importance. Also, I've heard rumor (unconfirmed) that there has been a Master Ulic Belouve[JAS] out there. This is definately not cool. So boiled down, I'm flattered that so many people want to use the Belouve name (and a lot have ASKED), but for now it is extended to people through being taken into the family as a Padawan. As the number of Master Belouves increases (Me and Bubu now), then you will get more chances to get into the family (and it's more a FAMILY approval than your master apporval). So don't just take the Belouve name, please. (or something TOO similar, like Belouvee) If you really must be stubborn about this, talk to me and we'll work some compromise out. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. I think that is very wise master…
…however, you failed to mention one more option you have. Now that your royal family has expanded you don’t need to take the blame for anything anymore. You can sit coolly back like Thrawn (the Grand Admiral, not your best friend*) and raise one finger to send out your padys and grand-padys like a vicious Noghri commando unit. Well, OK.
I have the tough problem of keeping a balance between saying "I really don't care, I can't do anything if you DO name yourself Belouve" and saying "Don't do it." If I say I don't care, then people will just use the name if they want. If I get upset and say "Don't do it", people will tell me to chill, there's nothing I can do. So I'm just thinking of a sentence that says both. And I'll just default to the respect issue. And I think you guys are good enough to figure it out. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. In the same respect that you, Ulic, "created" this name couldn't anyone in this world have come up with the same name since you sorta just switched up a name from something else you had heard, only slightly altering it. Not saying its the most likely thing, but it is a possibility. Heck, its a possibility that it comes from an actual last name that someone has too. Just possibilities.
And I don't believe its impersonation if someone is using the same name with a JAS tag after it. As long as they aren't saying they are a knight or acting like a knight theres nothing wrong with it. Just a name, rumor or not. And Ioshee, obviously common courtesy is one of the things that makes the academy a fun place to play, but I dont know that I would use the term runs rampant with it. There are good productive members and then there are troublemakers. If people are using this name against anothers will then that isnt courteous and is obviously one of the people who doesnt have the common courtesy fever. _______________ A man asked me for a dollar, and I asked him what its for. Well, at this point, I feel it is just a rumor. I'm not getting all worked up about it, but am saying that yes, it is a matter of courtesy.
Like they pointed out, Belouve is mostly my own creation (there is a Forest of Belouve in France, so the name probably HAS existed). But still, I've not found anyone to use the name yet, but a lot of people WANT to. I'm merely asking people to NOT do it. And I think Ioshee is partly right, that I may find some way to change that fact if one DOES take the Belouve name. But I'm not all-powerful, nor do I concern myself that much with the thought that someone will use it. just a note, Ulic, if you see someone whos name is Ulic Belouve, and its not you, thats impersonation, which is against the JA rules, unless im totally mistaken. There is freedom here Archangel, but there is also something called common courtesy that runs quite rampant at the Academy.
You can’t really compare the names Archangel to Belouve, because Archangel is an established character and the name Belouve was an original creation by Ulic. I doubt the new Archangel was trying to copy you, while anyone taking the name Belouve would quite clearly be copying Ulic. Hey... ya cant really keep someone from choosing a name here at the academy. If you could I would have a long time ago. There is another Archangel who joined quite a while after I did. It happens. I see what you mean with the adding the name belouve for you padawans and all that, but there is a little freedom to this academy. Ok, so the heirarchy goes like this:
First Generation: Ulic Belouve Second Generation: Bubu Damon C. Belouve Ioshee Third Generation (Bubu's Padawans): Dani Fizz Sared So there's 7 of us, 2 at a Mastering level. I do need to make a better effort to work with the 3rd generation guys (visit the Grand-Paddies). But I think the problem isn't big. Like I said, rumors. But I also wanted to address the "can I name myself Doobie Belouve?" (not that Doobie desires such). And DJ and I (and maybe others) have noticed that I have my own "crowd syndrome". I join, and don't move out, people crowd around. I announce where I am for one person, 5 people come there. It's amusing, and thanks, but you need not flatter me. I'm a good guy, like most of the others at the Academy. I'm not much better than anyone. So, well, that's my point. I guess you all follow it. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. I believe that you are trying to build something of your own with your own values, but can't do it if every tom dick and harry just take what's good and make it part of themselves. would you be able to post up those of your family that we might know who they are....
