What would you want to see in it? My recent project has taught me much of the arts of software development. To make sure these skills grow I'll yet again be redesigning the JA website. This is much more than a visual retooling. I'll be rewriting the site in PHP 5, using classes, a template system, new database structure that meshes better with our current site needs, and all layout being handled by css (no tables!). This will probably take some months to accomplish, so while I'm working on it I'd like your input as to what you'd like to see on the site. No idea is too big, small, too smart or dumb. The one thing I don't want is images in forum posts and signatures. That drives me up the wall. No flash either. Another reason for doing this is because I get at least one request a month to see my site code. Right now I don't give it out because frankly it looks like ass. I did the bottom level stuff a long long time ago. This new site will be spic and span on the inside and out.  So lets hear it! _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

I was just wondering if the forum_search could be added to the menu's. I think it's a bit annoying when I want to search for something, and have to go all the way to the forumpage, first. A Watch feature for forum threads: When a user posts a thread or a comment on an existing thread he gets a checkbox to decide yes or no if he wants to receive an e-mail notification every time a new comment is posted to the thread. There's also a Wach button at the top of very thread (if the user is signed in) so that the user can add it to his Watch list. There's also a link to the user's Watch list (again, only appearing if you're signed in) that shows your entire watch list, with a link to each actual thread, plus a checkbox next to each one and a "Remove Selected from Watch List" button. And that's a more detailed software requirement spec than you're going to get from most employers. I've been thinking about this for a while: Server stats. Not just who's on at the moment, but historical data that can be queried and displayed with graphs. I think that would be really cool. I understand why you don't want images in posts or signatures. Take a look at my own signature. But what if you allowed the standard ubb [img] tag with the image size fixed? I.e. I could put an [img=http://myimageurl] in my post, but the image would always come out in a small, manageable and non-obnoxious size that doesn't send everybody into scrollbar hell. Okay, I just thought of another reason why you might not want images in posts.  I don't know a good solution to that. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

Okay, I've thought about suggesting this for some time now: I'd like to see a 'favorite games' secion in the profiles! That way, it would be easier for people to find things they have in common with someone they don't know, and thanks to that, they might make new friends! Oh, and the PM system will rock! _______________ In the navy and LOVING it!

Ok again ^^ (i suck btw) Ok lemme explain...my windows colors are uhm...modified =) All text that im writing and reading is in a different color...and the background of it is in a different color too (ya can set it up in the settings) Now the deal is...i dont wanna see sites in THIS specific color ive set up...because itll look totally crappy and will be very hard to read (because only the text and not the background color on the sites will be replaced by the color of my windows text-color...err..yea) Anyway...the JA site as it is has a specific color scheme...which means = i can change all colors in my windows and it WONT affect the layout-colors on the site...which is a good thing Now i just want to get sure that you keep having a specific color scheme on the new site... I guess noone understood me so imma post pics... I'd like to be able to see a list of all the posts/comments I've made so I can keep track of what I've written. I like the idea of seeing current classes on the right there. And a 'Current Server Stats' feature would be awesome. Like have it say on the bottom: "There are 19 people on JA servers right now! JK3home: 10 | Wireplay: 5 | JK3Classes: 4" or something like that. |

Whatever you are changing DJ...please be sure to set a specific color scheme to the page. What i mean by this is...i dont use the standart blue-white windows look...all text and stuff isnt black-white neither...and on some sites all the text is in the color ive set in my windows...and this can be really annoying sometimes because usually the background color of the text really doesnt fit with the text color (IE yellow text on a white background) I hope you get what i mean...im bad at explaining things =/ But...the page atm has such a specific color scheme (white text on grey background which isnt windows-color dependend) Besides that...an official search button would be cool =) _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! i would like to see an activity page. as in...see who is doing what, where, now, kinda thing. so if i want people to know i'm off playing on the home server i can put that in (yes i know there's a server stats page, but this would be for stuff beyond our servers.) say i'm off playing CTF on a new server, i can put that on the activity page. i can go one place and see all the different games that my friends here at the JA may be off doing. for example, if there's a group off playing battlefront and i want to join them i can check the activity page and go join in the fun! odd you bring this up DJ, because i had this idea in my head for the past day or two good to hear you're thinking up new stuff.
