I have tried to connect several times today, without luck. The problem is that after it says "loading Hive", it says "loading rocket ammo" (for the second time!) and then crashes to desktop. I have NO idea why, as I didn't install any new mods or anything since last time I played... Anyone know what causes this? |

Problem solved! I replaced the mp cfg file in the reload subfolder with the one in my main base folder, and then I could join again... Thx to everyone who tried to help me. |

It's getting weird now... the map was running on the classes server, and I managed to join that one with no problems at all - but I still can't join JA home... It is VERY odd, to say the least... |

Sorry for seeming patronising Yeah I patched it again... almost forgot though. I need other pk3 files than the Academy map itself? I just find it very odd that it seems to halt with the rocket ammo each time... the other weapons and stuff load fine, but rocket ammot takes a while... then it goes on to load myself, after which it loads rocket ammo again - and crashes... |

Well, I really don't know what's wrong if reinstalling doesn't fix it. Returning to loading the rocket ammo would be fixed with a reinstall, I imagine. I guess it's not.  |

I did a clean re-install (I hate installing games with multiple cds, btw), but it still won't connected to the Academy servers for some reason. How about the computer specs? 1/2 of the time my computer won't connect to a server without restarting EXPLORER.EXE. It stops on "Awaiting snapshot", but doesn't return to loading anything else. |

Well I didn't play on any other servers either... I just did a few checks, and found out that I can start the Academy map myself with no problems - and I can join other servers as well... So it's only the Academy server...for some reason... Yes I know that a re-install is probably best, but I really hate re-installing games... :p Ah well, I guess I'll have to... I need the rush of getting my ass handed to me by all you pros every once in a while. |

Yeah, I'd suggest reinstalling. Even if you didn't download any mods or files on purpose, joining a server running another mod will cause you to download the client side part of it automatically. Not really much you can do about that other than not play on those servers. Try rebooting. It does look like problem with the game. I've never encountered this problem before. Maybe reinstalling the game would fix it... Hope you get it working soon. |
