I hate to break it to you, but the infamous "Invalid Game Folder" issue just means that checksums of pk3 files are incorrect, and that you therefor cannot connect.

Now this means that the server and the client use different pk3 files. Try to reinstall completely. uninstall and get rid of all the files. then reinstall.
try to scan your hd too. clean your CDs. This of course, wont help if you use the warez'ed version because it came with corrupted pk3s ;)

I think you should be able to find used legal copies of JK:JA for very decent prices on the web, like less than $20 (whatever the currency is for you :P).

And yes Jacen, 'Invalid Game Folder' error affect ONLY the game version that was available on warez-related sites.

This is what Michael Chang Gummelt from Raven wrote:

Unfortunately, there are servers out there being run by people with old, illegal copies of the game and their servers sometimes show up (especially right now when very few people legally have the game so far). This really sucks because people with a legal copy of the game cannot play on those illegal servers (they're not compatible). We're trying to do something about this, but, unfortunately, the servers are out there (for now). I suggest this, for the time being: select a server and hit "serverinfo". If the date in the version is "August 5th", that is an illegal copy of the game and you won't be able to connect to it. Find one that doesn't have that date in the version number and you should be able to connect to that server. I know this is a pain in the ass right now, but we're working on it...

Because Invalid Game Folder means it's the version that was out on the internet before the retail was released. I believe I read it on Raven's site.

Invalid Game Folder and cl_ParsePacketEntities are the only two warez-related errors I know of (though ParsePacketEntities could just be someone who bought the game, but is using no cd crack... nevertheless, it's still warez-related), and therefore, I'll continue to accuse people who receive those errors. And only those errors.

Why does everyone assume that if you have an error it must be because you downloaded the game?
Try installing to a shorter file path.

Have you updated your game to 1.01 (for JK3) or 1.04 (for JK2). That might be a problem. Other than that, reinstalling might help. :)

I would say reinstall to a different folder other than "Program Files." Or, if you have another hard drive, reinstall it to there.
