I see alot of argument, and bickering about what stance and what moves are best for sabers, people who say red better than blue, blue better than yellow. etc. I think that's the wrong way to look at it. There are no moves better then others, there is only the best move for a given situation. All it takes is a flick of a key to change stance or execute different moves, so play with all of them in mind, instead of limiting yourself to the few basic atacks of a given stance. If you fight with this in mind you will become more versatile saberists, since each stance has its virtues, and its limitations. Saying you have a given style or way of playing sabers, is simply a way of stating your weaknesses, because true saberists, don't play with a set style to govern there play, they fight the moment, and are creative, spontaneouse, and inventive. They get a feel for there opponent, and play to throw him off, trick, overpower etc.

I personally find the best stance is upright, on one leg, with my arms out like in the Karate Kid. Throgun-San remember what you teach, Mister Miyagi,Throgun-San remember...

i personally believe that the 'best' stance is purely personal and a matter of personal opinion and playing style. a stance is only as good as you make it.:)

Well, first off. I don't think it's is outright bickering. Mostly it just people having fun teasing each other. We have been doing it for as long as I can remeber. Specially between the all red and all yellow saberists.

As for what is better. Like you began to say. It's a matter of superior timing and the ability to read your opponent. The snace itself is secondary.
