OK, I can't find anyone to have a good conversation about this. I'm a firm believer in other forms of intellegent life. I justcan't imagine that out of all the things out there, we're the only ones. I think maybe it's man's destiny to reach out and join hands. Maybe thats the destiny of all intelegent life. To find each other. Sometimes I wish I could have been born far into the future, just to see where we are in 5000 years. I just hope I live to see someone travel to the edge of our solar system. The very thought that there are "others" out there is puzzling. WE can't even make to the nearest star yet, which I believe is Alpha Centari(bad spelling). Now, there are stars out there that would make Jupiter look small. These stars, which are more than likely made up much like our sun, could conceivably have planets that surround them. This supports the thought that there might be another universal fluke out there. And the comment about us killing each other because of race, religion, etc. Look folks, what would you do if someone that you loved was killed by someone else in the name of religion. Do you turn the other cheek? I do. I turn the other cheek and ask, is that the best you can do? Then I kill them back in the name of anger and hate. The U.S. is in a war for our very freedom right now. And if you want to get right down to the nuts and bolts of it all, it's a war about religion, not terrorism. We were attacked because of our beliefs. We believe in freedom. Freedom to do as you please religiously. They(Radical Islams)don't believe in that and hate us for it. Notice is say Radical Islam. Islam is not a hateful religion. Yes, their beliefs are not quite in line with mine, but they don't believe in killing someone else because of their religion. The way I look at it is this. If your Catholic you can understand why this is all happening. If your not, look up some knowledge on the Crusades, that should answer your questions, or I will be glad to explain if needed. My long, drawn out point is this. You say that other Intelligent life forms are not looking for us because we are too busy killing one another. Who's to say that the very reason they are not looking for us, is that they are going through the same situation in some form or fashion. _______________ Padawan for life to Motrec. Well, the Bible isn't clear on such matters. Nowhere in the Bible does it say anything for or against extraterestrial life. So it's really a matter of opinion. True but if something is infinite, then isn't also safe to say the there can be more than one fluke? Your speaking of physics WE know of and facts that we've collected. We are the species we are Because of the environment we were concieved. Is it not possible for Other life to be created from other conditions? Conditions that we could not understand? Life moved along from other elements that we don't know about? The Information we have is collected from the only environment we can explore. We are around the right type of sun, in the right orbit, with an atmosphere capable of sustaining life with a moon that keeps the Earth axis in line, with something from somewhere causing it all to begin, meteors, comets or just what's on earth. There are billions of stars out there, but not every star has planets. Not every star with planets could have a planet like ours. Well We are the dominant "intellegent" Lifeforns on this planet. And I belive in other forms of intellegent life elsewhere. Just more than numbers. Just the fact that the Universe is ageless and infinite, supposedly. Which means there are infinite possobilities to explore. Civilizations that have been around for Millions of years before us. I under stand what your saying about our lack or respect for one another. I do think Other life has "visited" our planet. I do think ppl can get carried away with all the sightings. I hear people ask,"Well if they are so Intellegent, why don't they communicate with us?" Well what would you do if you traveled to another planet and found these "humans" who are too busy fighting and killing one another to further themselves. A species that has done nothing but tribal warfare since their beginning. Why would they think that we could accept "them" without fear, when we can't even accept ourselves..... Nice profile pic =) EDIT: No, seriously.I think we ""intelligent"" lifeform have much potential.We could definately accomplish many many things on our own (without relying on different races or something like that..).But atm...most of our potential is just blinded by our supreme "intelligence". I think humanity as a whole has to learn many many MANY things before beeing REALLY intelligent...sad to see that humanity as a whole just cant be really intelligent though...a shame?A waste?No...just an imperfection i guess...but a very serious one. Maybe one which will destroy this world or kill off every human beeing... An imperfection which isnt even noticed because everyone seems to be naturally better then the other...an imperfection beeing lead by instincts and the will of power?Maybe... Anyway...my guess is that before we seriously can evolve ourselfs and create supreme technology...we have to realise that we "intelligent" lifeform shall NOT seek power...shall NOT destroy...but rather help and tolerate...but most of all: LOVE. Nietzsche thought that creating a strong humanity would be accomplished by letting the naturally strong lead and the weak serve. ...by letting the poor and dumb serving the rich and smart and the rich and smart helping humanity in providing things like leadership and developement in technology. Morals?Who needs morals if we have technology! (reminds me a bit of the combine in hl2 lol) Anyway...he always thought that religion was a bad thing...that religion let ppl help the poor and ignore the will of developement and power. That religion would hinder humanity from developement. But thats just wrong...the key to it ALL is just plain love.If you love...then you dont hate?You dont fear...you dont want to be better then the other...you help? It seems like the key would be indeed religion...but i doubt that because we "intelligent" lifeform are not tolerant enought to accept other religions besides our own(isnt Ireland the place where christians hate each other?) So its not religion...but something that is a part of religion...unity and love. But err...i went too far in here i guess...thats just my opinion.
