Hi folks, Many of you might not know me. My name is Moridin, and I've been away for a while. This is to people who know me. Mostly, it's my story of the academy. Take it or leave it. I joined the academy August of last year, and it was the best online community I'd ever been a part of. Padawan of Cloaked Thunder, when I wasn't working on dueling with Vlad I was joking around with people like Janus and Sared and MOTREC(He has many things on the end of his boot). For about 3 months everything was great, until shortly after Christmas. Everyone knows the story, but I can't tell you how it made me feel when i read about Vladarion. I was stunned at first, and frantically trying to find out any kind of information. I had never used teamspeak, so I downloaded the program and got on as fast as I could, to see if anyone there knew something more. Hardwired was on, alone. We had never really met before, but we had both been Vlad's friend, and we started talking about him. neither of us could believe it was true, but it was, and we dealt with it as best we could. I'll never forget that conversation; having someone to actually talk to, who understood what I was feeling, comforted me more than anything. I attended the memorial, and afterwards remembered that my profile still had a line about Vlad before the accident. I went to change it, but couldn't. It still is the same today. CT eventually left, and Hardwired took me under his wing. With him came my new padawan brothers (and sister)Carda Jowol, Ploo Koon, RoseRed, Marko, and Cossyc. The later winter and early spring flew by as I learned more and more single saber, and a new face came to the Academy- Leif. He's still the best duelist I know of, and maybe one of the people I respect here the most. By late spring, we were a veritable posse: Leif, MOTREC, Janus, 3th, Garos (with brother senor hat), Lackey, Sared, Janiriki (He's from Middle Earth, you know),Linlei, Krytikyl, a fresh newcomer named Tido, and I. The nights when we were all on Teamspeak together are some of the most fun filled nights at my computer that I can recall. Summer went by so fast it was hardly noticible. People were out of town, gone to this or that, and things grew quiet on the western front. We had a few good nights, but nothing like the past. In August, it was time to go to college, one of the bigger moves in my life. I ordered a new computer, after a few weeks settled into the dorm life, and then tried to pick JA back up again. But I couldn't. For one thing, the network that I'm on won't let me play Academy. The ports are closed. I'm trying to get that fixed right now. But secondly, RL just came and stole me away. I could have done something about the network problems much earlier if I had wanted to, but I didn't. Like many of the members here, I just needed to leave for a while, though I didn't leave any grand "I'm going now" post to mark it. I just dissappeared- and that was wrong to do to my friends. For that, I am sorry. It was wrong to leave with no explanation. (though I did talk with some of them while I was away) So why a long, boring diatribe chronicling adventures past and dead? Because I want to come back, and I've got JA fever again. Life is a story. Write what you make of it, experience everything, and never let anything go untold. It feels good to be back.
