Just doing the movement map with a fiew others last night ... and a wee thought poped into my head. I wonder how different the movies would have been if Luke, Ben, Darth Vader or the Emperor had just plain run out of force at the wrong moment ... luke frozen in carbonite, the lightning ran out, Han's blaster pistol only makes it halfway to DV, and Yoda prob would have bounced a lot during Lukes training (not just the once that we saw )Just a thought  _______________ Proud to be Padawan to Sared "It's not over 'till I WIN!!!" I think the physical strength analogy is the best one. If you're lifting a heavy rock while someone tries to get out from underneath it, well goshdarnit you're going to hold up that rock as long as you have to. Well put tido, I kinda got what you're getting at  Size matters not remember, but you have to concentrate when using the force. This is why if you read any of the novels, anyone who uses a large amount of force energy to do something, collapses in exhaustion at the end of it Example, moving a planet. I think their control of the force IS finite. My reasoning why is gonna seem really left feild to you guys though.... All through highschool and about half way through college I was a competitive long distance runner. As I entered in to Division 1 NCAA sports, what really makes the difference between the best and the average is your mind. At that level everyone trains to insane ammounts, everyone has astronomical mitochondria counts, and damn near everyone has an O2 threshold of a greek god. What really seperates the men from the boys is how well you can control your body - how well you can make your mind put away the pain. What your body itself is capable of is no longer good enough, you have to extend beyond that. If there is anything in this world that I could liken to 'the force', this would be it. You're focusing so hard during this. And when you do it, the feeling is...well...unworldly  . But your mind fatigues as well. Sometimes as your body is screaming, lungs are burning, and your heart feels like it's pumping battery acid, your mind can falter. You can 'lose your grip', and all of the sudden everything rushes over you like a powerful wave crushing you. I feel it could be similar for a Jedi: he could fatigue, and 'lose his grip'. The mind can tire, and your ability to focus does diminish. Anyways that's all a lot to swallow, but that's my take on it. This comment was edited by Tido on Dec 28 2004 09:07pm. |
