When it comes to the bluring the blades U want 2 color layers (for blade color) and 2 white blade layers on top of the color layers. When bluring, start with the bottom layer and apply FILTER>>BLUR>>GUSSIAN BLUR. A window will pop up and you can adjust the amount. make sure the window isn't coving the Blade so u can see it change as u adjust it.. I ue Photoshop 7. U can get clean edges on the hair and body from zooming in when u clip. You get better detail. Takes longer but worth it. And I made the Lightsaber blades myself. Its hard to cut light saber blades from pictures cause of the blur u need in the blade. So i clip em at the top of the hilt and make the blades.
