I had a little disagreement back in a thread over reaction time. It is time, once and for all, to settle this. Take the test, and post the results. It shall settle who is truly the quickest. My best time was 0.171 on the big flashy thing, and my best average is 0.185 (Yea, I'm not really quick, but good enough to dodge a punch.) Yea, after I made my post I realized that as well, Flash. I think its harder to see the color change because you see a bit of a flicker from the refresh rate. (I don't think this is the case with LCD's but I only use CRT's so that's my story!) I did however find a sort of "sweet spot" where I could tell it was changing color and got a few of my best times. |

I tried using my peripheral vision and realized I couldn't tell when the dot changed color. Anyways, my regular average was .174. |

Your absolutely correct man That's why a lot of boxers, Muay Thai'ers, and martial artists look at the eyes. For some reason, when you don't see something directly, you react without thinking. If you see a punch in the corner of your eye, you, oddly enough, react faster than if it was coming straight at you. I think it has something to do with the peripheral nerves having a higher conduction speed or something... rofl I fluked one at .035, (Twitched just as the thing HAPPENED to change color.) and ended up with a .182 average. Normally I get .2+ though.  EDIT: Also, try it with the dot in your peripheral vision. In a lot of cases, peripheral vision is more sensitive to flashing and sudden movement than direct sight. (Or so I THINK I've read somewhere...) This is why your monitor appears to flicker when you look at it out of the corner of your eye. ... Don't worry if ur "slow." These are twitch reflexes; in other words, you react purely on twitch, you don't see it coming.
