I have just reinstalled JK3 and am looking forward to playing with many people again (especially all the cool people I have met in the JA)

When I had stopped playing JK3 from the people I talked to, the new sabers were being really looked down upon. Is this still the case?

Are there skilled people out there using the new sabers the way we used the single saber in JK2?

I.E. No katas, special moves as counters, etc.

Just looking for a litte input. Thank in Advance to all how reply.

I still play quite a bit of JK2, and that's probably the reason why I don't use many of the new features. (katas and rollstabs generally get me killed fast :D) On the other hand, I do find myself playing significantly less defensively than I do in JK2, at least partially because, as Gradius mentioned, counters have an increased role. ;)

Counters play an important roll in jk3. Sometimes people do them by accident, or don't even know that they are countering. There is nothing wrong with it at all, it's very useful. And as far as the other saber types go, yes, there are tons of people who look down upon them, moreso staffers. Staff has it's faults, such as the ability to continuosly attack without have to start a new combo, as well as high damage. But this can easily be stopped by learning new combos and realizing when certain moves are being "spammed." With staff, you basically have to be a fancy fighter for people not to consider you a spammer and say that you are using it because it's easy to kill people with. This is not the case.

Duals, in my opinion, are the hardest of saber types to master. Mainly because they are very hard to control without proper instruction and practice. Basically, duals are the same as staff, except they move slower and have greater range. The moves/combos are a bit different, but the damage is nearly equal.

With single, it's all the same more or less as it was in jk2, except for one thing. A good single user in jk3 relies greatly on combos parries and counters. Sure, the damages are different, but that's Raven's "improvement' that they added.

Basically, all saber types can be considered "n00bish" and frowned upon based on the way they are used. But a master of either type knows the limits of it and can decide wether or not to use it correctly based on their knowledge of it. It's all a matter of opinion these days really. There is no right or wrong way to use either type, it all depends on your style. Hope this helps a bit.:)

There are some dual and staff masters I just can't beat. I can beat heavy masters for some odd reason, but until I get really good, I can't beat dual or heavy masters. These are the guys who NEVER use special moves, so there is no reason to look down on the new sabers. (Although it is EXTREMELY frustrating fighting against them.)

Well, there are people who use Single, Duals and Staff Stances. Some use Katas, some don't. :D
