Ok 1 thing i didnt get in Phantom Menace is at the end when Mace Windu and Yoda are talking about Darth Maul, they dont know if he was the Apprentice or the Master, Do they really hold Obi Wan's Lightsaber skills in such high respect to think he could kill a master ? Now i know in Episode 2 when he fights Dooku, Dooku says yoda holds you in such high regard im disappointed. I just wondered thats all, i mean he was only Jedi Padawan in Episode 1. _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

The Padawan was on her trial to knight. I never said that Maul was a female. And I know what a mind trick is. You have to read "Shadow Hunter" to understand more about Maul. |

Obi Wan only glances at the saber, then stares into Maul's eyes, this is when the trick happens. If Obi Wan only focused on the saber wouldn't Maul just kick it down the shaft like the other? I would also like to add that the mind trick is more than just getting someone to repeat what you say. It is a multi-faceted power with many layers generaly intended to control the subject's perception of the situation. In ANH when Obi Wan is disabling the tractor beam, he points to a place on the other side of the stormtroopers and they think they hear something at this time he becomes invisible to them and walks right by! That's an interesting point you bring up Monteeee. I don't think Lucas (or whoever wrote the script) thought about the idea of a Padawan beating a Sith Master being irrational. So when he had Windu and Yoda discussing it, all they really meant was which of the two were killed, Padawan or Master. Not sure that it was meant to go any deaper than that really. However, it is possible to a Padawan to beat a Sith Master under the right circumstances I'm sure. Like, while he's busy fighting a Jedi Master, the Padawan could just run up and stab him in the back or something. Yeah I agree. Unlike the Sith, A Jedi Knight/Master and his Padawan have a continous teacher/student relationship. They spend years together in constant training, hardly ever apart. there were more sith lords with a weak ability in lightsabers, its half-in half really, but there were ALOT of sith lords that were ignorant and stupid. then came the Sith Rule of Two, Master and Apprentice. since there is only two sith lords, they can now concintrate on powering themeselves. Darth Maul was quite young when he faced Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-gon Jinn. so he was very new with his skill. ------------------------------------------- also Vader never kiled Obi Wan, The great jedi master distracted the Dark Lord of The Sith by becoming one with the force.  _______________ The Force is my ally, and a powerful ally it is. Good point Vasper. Even though Obi Wan had not faced the trials he knew everthing he needed to be a knight. Also I noticed that Maul was very weak in his knowledge of the force despite his skills with the staff. The whole time he only used force push. Imagine his surprise when his enemy dissapeared before his eyes. And as there were only two Sith that we know of his teaching could not have been very complete. _______________ Honor those better than you would yourself. |

Actually Yoda has fought a Sith B4. When he was about 150 years old he and about 15 other Jedi found and Batle a Sith Lord on Courasant. As mfor believing that Obi-Wan could take a sith master, I don't know. He is a Jedi and they know he is nearing his Knighthood. I'm sure not ALL Sith Masters are "OMGF! Watch it again and notice just before Obi Wan jumps, he focuses his attention to maul and the look of confusion is the key, Maul never even lights his saber. How could Maul be surprized when Obi Wan hasn't done anything yet (besides the trick of course). _______________ Honor those better than you would yourself. To beat Maul I noticed Obi Wan used, mind trick/pull/jump simultaniously. Quite a feat for a padawn, proving to me that he could defeat a Sith even if Maul was only an aprentice. Well, the Sith had been extinct for over a millennium, and I don't think either Mace or Yoda were alive at that time, so I don't think they knew how powerful a Sith really was. Obi-Wan doesn't lose to Vader. He lets Vader kill him. As to being powerful enough to kill a Sith Master...the Council might think it was possible because he was aided by his Master, and they had a 2v1 advantage over Darth Maul. |

Well, a few things: 1. When Dooku said that, he was just taunting him to make him angry and make a mistake. 2. Dooku was a well trained Jedi Master before turning to the dark side. 3. Obi Wan isn't fit to battle a Sith. He looses to Dooku, he looses to Vader, and the only one he wins to is Darth Maul. The only reason he killed Darth Maul was because he caught him off guard. Maul was kicking his arse otherwise. Every time I watch that scene I'm like: "OMG LAMED! ADMIN! HE WAS CHATTING!" _______________ Top ten reasons to get a better computer...|My fan |
