Okay, so, I'm sure most of you have noticed that for alot of classes lately, the teachers have not shown up. This is all due to major RL activity for the JAK+, which is taking quite the toll on their JA activity. So, to start off, I'm going to answer a few questions. 1. Yes, we are aware of the situation 2. Yes, we realize how important these classes are to you as students. 3. Yes, the JAKs are covering for as many classes as they can. I myself am covering for as many as I can, as early as I can. 4. No, students cannot cover these classes. Why? For a few reasons. JAK+ are the only "certified" members of the JA who know what to teach. Just because a student believes they know enough to take over the class, doesn't mean they will be teaching you the right thing. I have seen posts lately from students thanking other students for taking over certain classes. This is against JA policy!. Students are to not, under any circumstances, take over classes no matter what. That's why we have JAKs. If the JATs aren't able to make it to their class, they have a JAK or another JAT do it for them. If no JAK+ shows up, the class is canceled. Ask the JAK+ for private training lessons regaurding the class when you see them. 5. No, students are not allowed to hold "unofficial" classes. This has it's boundary though. If one students asks another student for training, that is fine. If other students wish to tag along, and it ends up being a spontaneous training session, that is fine. But just because that student has been around for a while, or seems to know what they are talking about, it does not mean that they do. What they may be helping you with may not be the right thing, so take caution in who you ask for help from. Basically, students cannot announce that they will be holding a training session at any specific time or place on the servers or forums. But if a one-on-one training session becomes a one-on-five session, this is "ok" but should not happen more than once in a blue moon. 6. No, the JA is not dying. We've just hit a bump in the road. I hope this helps a little. If there are anymore questions about classes or anything related to them, please don't be afraid to ask. The JAKs/JATs/JACs are very sorry about the way things have been lately. It is not like this normally at all. This message goes out mainly to the newer students who joined up to improve their game skills, but it also goes out to those of you who have been around for a while. Please, do not think of us as lazy. I can speak from experience in saying that real life has a funny way of catching up from time to time. The academy has come ALONG way from when I first joined back in 2002 (omg has it been that long? lol). Thats something I think everyone should be proud of. Sure, people retire and go inactive for a while, I don't think thats ever going to change...We just have to have faith in the JA and work together to ensure that this 'bump' in the road is as smooth as possible. It's true that the JA is just going over a "bump". I've seen it before. All the JAK+ (and ex-JAK+ of course, <3 Silk and JJ) have seen it before. It happens. If you want to keep playing, keep playing. When there's zero people on the server, people aren't likely to want to be the first, but people like to be the second or third to join. Unfortunately, some things do prevent instructors from leaving a note before the scheduled time of their Class, when they are unable to attend. As for Wireplay, it is currently down, presumably for maintenance. |
