Krusaeder D' Kana - Student |
Hey there! I'm a jk2 oldbie who's recently back in ja with jk3, I'm using Single Saber again and sometimes I get kinda confused when I fight peeps with Dual and Staff. It is one thing when duellers use these weapons to spam, but there are also some great fighters out there on the servers and I was wondering if u could give me any tips (stance, combos, movement etc.). Thanks all of you! _______________ PEACE LOVE AND THE UNIVERSE, Krus |

Best way is to observe someone that doesn't have a problem against them. watch how they move and swing. It will give you a basic Idea. Well theres maybe 10% of the population out there thats actually effective with the 'noob stick' (staff) but its pretty easy to get around with the red stance single saber....all I do is do timed sideways swings and duck down so it slashes across the stomach of their character....that seems to work for me. As for dual well you can still try that but if that dont work just switch to yellow and hack n slash and just wait for them do the 'saber-nado' ya know when they duck down and the sabers fly over their heads? yeah that one....well anyway best of luck to ya _______________ 4/20/2005----Left the academy because I did'nt feel welcomed. |

How to effectively fight dualists and staffers is a pretty huge topic imo. First of all, there are different sorts of dualists/staffers...the offensive ones and the defensive ones. Lets take a look at the typical mediocre offensive JA staffer.Youll see him charging at you most of the time...and hes gonna try to hit you at every occasion possible. So the best thing to do here is beeing defensive.Feeding on his mistakes and letting him run into your own swings. The backwards key is your best friend here...try to lure him with fake red swings and pick him off the distance with delays. (the right-forward+crouch move works especially good for me when fighting staffers =P) Fighting a defensive staffer is a bit more tricky.Hes gonna just circle around you and wait for you to do a swing...then hes gonna rush in and hit your gap.So either your offensive red is very far advanced and you just try to rush him with it...or youll try to lurk him out while remaining defensive yourself and hope that hes gonna do some sort of mistake which you can use against him. Now for the Duals... Duals have an increased range and its combos usually are able to deal a lot more dmg then staff combos. The most important thing to keep in mind when fighting a dualist is...well...keep your distance. If you get too close, hes gonna tear you apart (especially with the buzzsaw). The typical offensive dualist usually uses a lot of jumps combined with buzzsaws. The easiest way to beat the buzzsaw is a right red swing.So...your best bet would be to play defensive and let him run into your swings.A right red swing should be your first choice here...and a delayed right-forward swing once the dualist comes too close. Also, Ive experienced that the overhead works quite well against duals...you can even try to get em while theyre jumping with a well-timed right-forward swing. Defensive dualists are a lot harder then defensive staffers imo.The increased range gives the dualist more freedom and makes you even more vulnerable. What im usually doing in this case is...im staying defensive myself and hope that theyll make some sort of mistake.Although, i would pretty much recommend using yellow there...it makes the gaps which the dualist tries to exploit, go away and forces him to switch tactics.Onces he switched tactics, you may as well try to use red against him...until he switches tactics again ^^ Besides, our mod pretty much favors the yellow stance a bit and thats another reason for using yellow vs staffers and dualists. But im not specialized on this topic...in fact, im still learning myself how to effectivly use yellow against them.Im sure yellow masters like Virtue, Luke, Jaina or Jaiko would be very happy to help you out if you need any help with it. ^^ _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! Red vs Staff: Get to their sides and back+right/left attack them depending on the side you're trying to strike. Also, be sure not to use ANY moves which take a long time and leave you in a certain area for a while, as your opponent can easily catch up and saber you in such a situation. When they butterfly, wait for it to finish, and as it does, get to the side of the butterfly which is left open and back+right it. Red vs Duals: I wouldn't suggest using back+rights in this duel, as many Dualists Buzzsaw at this point. Instead, keep your distance, and fit some 3-swing combos using the forwards, right and left directional keys. Of course, this is all just from experience, so these may not be the best tips and tricks out there. |

well good tactic is to just wait till they jump and smack with strong stance when they are near you but ofcourse if duelist never jumps.... just be careful and use red stance. beating staffers/dualers with medium stance is very difficult there are not so much ppl who can actually do it _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february.
