I fail to see how "user friendly" and "remote control" are linked... an IP ban is all you need, anything more is overkill..

I saw no flaming or offensive material in this thread that was directed at you, Ekim. Rather, simple explinations of why this particular idea would be obsolete.

It's not that the idea itself isn't appreciated. It's just the simple fact that it wouldn't work. No one has critisized you, personally, and no one thinks you're stupid for posting it.

I do however resent your choice of words reguarding the Academy, though - specifically "Lamerholics Annonymous", we're not that bad, in fact - we're sugar coated and wrapped in pink bows compared to most Servers out there and we do try hard to make this place fun for everyone.

:alliance:Dont take it personally Virtue. The Lamerholics thing was purely a joke. I just thought Id try to help out but seems like that isnt needed. :alliance:

Eh, it wouldn't be lamer than planting the program on another's harddisk in the first place.

Ever thought about what would happen if they were to uninstall the program? Or would it include a lock to keep them from removing it, thereby classifying it as either malware or Microsoft products?

Nice :D

Wouldn't that be a little lame? Reformatting just so you could get into our game servers again?

But then again, you're talking to the man who once formatted his hard drive for a silly school-assignment, so what do I know :P

What I was trying to say is maybe have a new admin control that sends a 'zap' if you will to the persons computer that kills their ability to join a certain IP address unless that person completely reformats their harddrive. Grrr I hope that atleast tries to explain what i'm meaning but yeah. It might not keep them out permenatly but it would give people such a headache they wouldnt dare to lame anyone...:alliance:

Hopefully that explained it a little bit better than before. I doubt it would happen though because I dont know of any program or programmer that could pull of something as to what I was talking about but it would be nice...

No offense but that idea is a little silly. No one would join the JA. I trust the JAK+ but giving that kind of power over my pc is not going to happen.

Yea, gotta lol at that first quote.

Anyway. The point of the ja is to help out new people with the game. They should be downloading the least amount possible so that they can jump on the servers. Keeping track of all ips the way you're saying, well, i'm not too comfortable with that. Having to make/download a third party program is too much of a hassle and unnecessary.

I dunno what you mean, but the jak+ take care of pretty much all the lamers/troublemakers/noobs, whatever you wanna call em. Sending a 'zap' as such is pretty much giving someone a virus. I don't know why such a thing would be necessary, nor would it reflect well on the ja. "Hi, welcome to the ja. If you screw up, we will H4X your computer. Enjoy your stay. :)"

How many would join the JA if they had to download and install a thrid party program, designed to control what they can and can't do? And your "unless they reformat" doesn't really make it sound nice... I actually think it sounds a hell of a lot more like a virus.

To avoid confusion, when i want to refer to the first definition of a Noob I personaly use the phrase Newbie.

Someone accustomed to e.g. CTF or TFFA might as well take "newbie" as an offense, though, seeing as "noob" is rarely used as an insult there, as opposed to newbie.

Well theres too versions of the term

Noob , 1 = as you say a new player
2 = Someone who has all the bad traits of a new player but not the good ones ... No curiosity, Politness and eagerness to learn , but a big head, think they can go around blowing things up randomly, don't bow before duels, use all the glitches etc.

True this isn't neccersarily thier fault, and they can clearly improve if they are just shown the "way we do things" but as they are at the moment there is only a little difference between the 2nd type of Noob, and a lamer...

When you mean every server, you mean just the JA servers right? If you dont, no one would join the JA at all. Besides the JAK+ are here to take care of that stuff. If they hear about someone laming they are usually there on the spot. If any banning needs done they can take care of it. They can have a staff/JAC take care of banning your account also. If there was some program they could use to have 100% control of IP, I would probably leave. The IPs they can get from you are strictly used to ban you, and to see that you don't somehow get back on the servers again.

Second of all you are not talking about noobs. You are talking about lamers. There is a MAJOR difference. Noobs is used to describe someone new to the game. That is why the JA is here in the first place, to educate people new to the game.

Its already there. When they apply they click a little thing that says they have read the server rules. When they are on the servers they need to follow the rules, if they don't and refuse to stop they will be banned, and we can ban their IPs. You aren't suggesting anything new. All of this already exists.
