Hey everyone, i'm very interested to hear your opinion about the JATs. Are we around enough ? Do we teach enough ? Are you happy with how we deal with misbehaviour ?

I'm no saint myself, but I'll agree with Ulic's "teleport whore" comment...I remember using it myself to describe the actions of [probably the same person].
He was having TONS of fun teleporting people into the spike room, over the spikes, or telefragging them. Then there was an incident I remember, during a CTF game, where an admittedly-drunken JAT was using his admin powers to slap enemy team members around...it may have been all in good fun, but some people don't appreciate that. I know I certainly didn't, and I was on this JAT's team at the time. I also have a request for empowered JAC/JAK/JATs who are having an "everyone kill the empowered guy" game... Don't kill spectators who are standing on a platform, away from the action, with saber down, not moving. After you kill them the first time and they don't come back and attack you, that should tell you something. There's no need to kill them a second time just because they are there again... I think the biggest thing that people with these PRIVELEGES (key word there) need to remember is that they are not there as extra toys to play with. Ulic, I would like to see that demo of course and I'm sorry for the conduct of some JAT's. The teleport command was not created for these kind of actions. I was warned by the council when I was creating the mod but I spoke for it to be a nice tool for us jats to get to locations where needed by the students. For example, I'm in the hidden room and someone needs a trial..boom, I can be there in a blink of an eye.
Also, we all know that counteractions to admin commands by using another admin command just makes the tension increase even more. In your case, you did the right thing after warning the JAT a couple times and used the sleep command. Since JATs have more admin abilities, they can easily get out of this and score with an even more devistating command. (which should never be done) In conclusion, I again apologize for this conduct and I hope this will clear up the minds of our JAT's. Besides, the JAT's are the "role models" and students mimmick what we portray on the servers, so lets start and keep acting like a JAT. _______________ Get busy living, or get busy dying. |

Um, yeah...
With the teleport to DFA, I don't have any demo of that. I did warn the JAT, and put him to sleep. Of course, JATs can wake themselves up. I can't get out of a punish. But, with the later teleport into pit, and the teleport in next to me an kick me into pit, a nice demo has been made and handed over to whoever needs to see it. A shame I did not have the demo of me, in ampunish, being teleported into a DFA. I could not have avoided it if I wanted. This happened twice also. So I agree. As a next-to-JAT, I should be able to do something. But any commands I give, the JAT can get out of. And I'm NOT going to kick a JAT. Bad idea. But I think I handled the situation well. Yet the larger problem: it doesn't make me real entusiastic about JATs. I did put out the quote before that "A strong man has power, but a stronger man does not ever need to use it" But I think we should remedy JAT image also. May I suggest (sorry if it's more work for Chosen), that AdminMod be put on all servers and modified so that admin commands that can be abused require commenting eg
/punish badboy "He repeatedly chat-killed" perhaps add a delay so admin commands can only be used once every 10 seconds or so. or when such a command is used a second JAT/JAC/JAK has to confirm the command before it is implemented. I've got no problems with the JAT's. They have very hard jobs in the academy and I think they do them well.
I think Acidic can be a bit admin happy, but it's all in the spirit of fun.  |

actually with u beeing next-to-JAT you have the power (and the duty) to stop this JAT from doing those things. Well,
(sorry that I didn't read all the below comments) I know that some JATs are getting a bit too happy with their powers (admin stuff). So we have the teleport-whore (you know who he is) And I stand around and get teleported into the pit spikes. Or teleported into this JATs RDFA. Or get ampunished and pushed around like a balloon. But..hmm...thinking now (I'm almost at my 43 minute limit for the day..OOH! Midnight coming soon! New quota!) Am I just recently being hated? I've run into a lot of abrasions since I came back from vacation. I wsa told before my vacation to have fun. Now I come back to have fun and get floated around like a ballon, and teleported into a DFA by a JAT. But well, that's what we've got for leaders. If this is the top of the ladder, then I'm going back to initiate, to be further from these types of people. I'm next-to-JAT, so having a JAT be a real dork doesn't make me real proud to be a JAT-in-training. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. I have submited for my learner trial without any lessons. when i see a JAT in the server i ask genraly if i could get a little help with my saber move's, but alas i get no reply whatsoever.
The JAT's are doing a great job with trials i have watched a few and though "great stuff" but i feel that the only way im going to learn is by duleing as i cannot get help on the servers and i cannot commit myself to classes becoz im training to be a teacher and course work comes first. _______________ Sit vis nobiscum. |

in general the JATs do a great job. they are (mostly) very dedicated to the academy and do their best to teach us guys how to be great jedi. however some jats are only on for their classes, and then they disappear. i'd really like it if jats were around more outside of class times. i know i know sometimes there are more important things to do... i'll shut up now.

agreed, classes should be taken seriously.
it's a shame i could only attend fe so far (time difference) but they varied alot. one time people were sitting calm and listened and actually learned something. i remeber kamikaze mofo giving an excellent yellow class. but on the other hand, sometimes the student just chatted, messed around and stuff. guys: if you dont want to have a class, leave! go on a public and hunt n00bs, it's fun! and one note: i think saying "cool" "thank you" "lol" or something like that disturbs the class. you don't have to comment EVERY sentence the JAT says

JAT's are around enough...they can't be on the servers 24/24, from the classes ive taken ...they teach very well (Jacen !)..and yes ...i also think that classes should be taken more seriously, not like if we were in the military but some people fool around sometimes instead of sitting and listening to what the JAT has to say ... _______________ Back for good... |

Oy, just a few small coments.
Exar check the JAK's nationality, you will see that there are some European folks. I would say that we have 33% of Euro Knights, same applyes to JAT's and students.
Black,the name of the place is "Jedi Academy", classes should be taken seriusly, just like in school. But I'm sure the folks will tell you that staff can also have some fun. You will notice that teachers often remove their tag and hang with the rest of the folks just like regular students.

I think some of the tainers take this a little too seriously. Ok, mabey the idea of a 'school' for a game is going a bit far, but I've seen some trainers who act like they have been schoolteachers for most of their normal life. |

Trainer GOOD! Chosen BAD! Kidding, everyone, just kidding.
I've seen alot of good things happen because of the trainers around here. I have my more personally directed opinions of one or two, but the question wasn't if we liked them. You all put up with alot of dumb things that go on as a result of impatience or failure to pay attention to anything resembling the rules. (Like my 12 day jump from joining as an Init, and becoming Journeyman.) But all in all, after everything is said and done, JA becomes a better community for it. Your patience in dealing with the things you have to has made JK2 one of the few games I can stand to play online. I think all the Jats are great they are the best people(lookin for kngiht recomendations i am =))they are very helpful when u run into em and will always help u if u ask. Well i think ther is a good amount but more students could be helped by ther being 2or3 more of em i often dont runn into them and i am on quite a bit. There are enough J-Man's around who can help you with that too. I think 3 more trainers should be something of the right number. There are so many new people who want trial that they get irritated. I don't say they're right but there are that do. And it's nice to have at least 1 server where there is a JAT so you can ask thingies. One remark on the JAT's now is that they are doing a great job, have LOTS of respect for everyone and are just fantastic people. Me I would like to see something to help with learners who want to do some studing for the J-man trials. I know I would sign up for that class in a heart beat(not sure I used the right word). Well that is my only thing, Later.
