We have evaluated the Hall of Fame one by one, and have come to the conclusion that some people were there that should simply not have been there in the first place, or some were placed there for the wrong reasons. Having been a staff member does NOT guarantee a place in the Hall of Fame. The people who have been removed from the list have not been removed because they're not nice people; they simply have been removed because we want to start the Academy over, with one big aspect being the renewing of the staff, and HIGHLY upping our standards. This includes the Hall of Fame. The people who have been placed in it, have been re-evaluated to match the new standards, and some simply did not meet them in our viewpoint. We already expected some of these threads before we made the cleanup, but there there will be no restoration. This comment was edited by Aron on Apr 18 2005 10:18pm. |

I'm not sure if you remember it, Virtue, but it takes (or took) alot of effort to become a JAK and from there to JAT. That effort always included helping other members, assisting in classes and in general, investing alot of time in the Academy. Too bad you don't care about that anymore now. I'm also glad to see the Council so open to ideas and suggestions, and always willing to reconsider a decision they've made. Then again, that's just business as usual. i don't think the idea of a retired knight/trainer section is too bad of an idea (of course that list would explode come saturday, lol...hmmm, dunno). keep the HoF to what you guys want--a true honor, examples of great contributions that have been made to the academy. _______________ this is the internet, be serious damn it! |

To be honest, I think the new list is good. It confuses me that Yun and Merc are still there, though. I mean, Merc was one of the first JAT's, even though he never actually HELD his classes... and Yun hosted roleplaying classes and was a JAC for less than a week! Such long lasting contributions MUST be rewarded! Gimme a break. But yeah, guys like Huxley, Av, Legolas, JS, Vladarion, Apesex, etc... they all deserve to be there. Im sorry to disagree, but I think the best thing for the academy is to start over. Besides Master Aron is right, we can just simply put people on the hall of fame for little reason. Those who go up there have to be up there for a major impact they create(not so much an impact just an example). Also i feel that this transition were doing will bring a more firmer understanding of what the academy is about, we are far too reckless and undisciplined. I for one will not succumb to subordinations of unruly fellow students, I urge all of us to follow our great leaders into a future that we may learn prosperity and passion. and so we may learn from each other, we are an academy, we are a school intended for fellow players to learn. So listen to me, listen to everything i tell you, this for your own personal advantage. Take every moment you have here and study it, you will find that even though you have been taught something minor, you have made a bond with someone, a bond that is strong and forever going. The bond that binds all of us, is friendship beyond anything you can conceive. Nope, I agree with Halendor on this (PS i still remember you! ). Some of the guys on the HoF were truly deserving to be on it. You're setting new criteria because you want to start the ja over? That's fine. But why can that not apply to FUTURE recipients of that honour? You're basically saying, "Hi, you have done much for the ja. We appreciate your dedication and the hard work that you have put in. However, we feel that under our new standards, you suck. Have a nice day." I can't remember every single person from the HoF actually :/ but people like FaDed really deserved to be on it. It's a shame when you don't even want to remember the people that brought you to where you are today. Pretty much what Aron said. You see, there was a time where anyone who was ranked, just expected to go into the Hall of Fame if/when they Retired. Even I have had people come up to me in the past and say "Dude, I retired, why am I not on the HoF????". I'm not going to point any fingers here *cough*DJ Sith*cough* but one or two of the JAC are waaaaayyyyyy too nice, some of these fellows damand to be on the HoF, even though they didn't really do anything special, or they'd only been a Knight for 2 weeks. As Aron said, we simply re-evaluated everyone who was on the HoF and adjusted it to be more suiting. In future might it be helpful to put a permie on their profiles to say why they were added to the HoF? Most of us have not been around since the beginning - and altough the contributions of everyone who has been on that list is well respected, some of them could be seen as obsolete, which is sad... _______________ This is not the place to look for me |

I totally agree with Halendor. What was the whole point in this renovation? I was happy to see such a large HoF -list in the first place, and even happier when my friends' names appeared there too.
