OK, sorry about the n00bish question, but how does one record a demo of a MP game? Is it something to do with the console?

Thanks in advance.

Nope.
If you use /cl_avidemo, then itll make lots of screenshots in .tga format. How many and how fast the videos gonna be depends on the value you set after "/cl_avidemo" which pretty much defines the amount of screenshots that are going to be made per second.
IE /cl_avidemo 2 = 2 frames/screenshots per second.

Im not really sure though...but i think its pretty logical to assume it.

No, not .tga, .jpg. The Quake 3 standard is .tga, but not so in the JK games.

PS: Tutorial.

Assemble all the screenshots with a third party program.

Assemble screenshots? When you use the in-game recording function, it saves as a .avi, right?

How is the quality when you record using JK3? My experiences are that the videos are ok, but the game itself starts lagging like hell.
Did you guys try and use third-party programs, like Fraps or Gamecam?

Even with Fraps (which - by the way - is a horrible, horrible program), you'd need to record a demo, and then use Fraps only when reviewing the demo... unless you think recording and playing with 5 fps is cool, that is.

Well, ive been always using the /cl_avidemo command for making videos. Its actually pretty simple...

Record demo first.
Replay demo while using the /cl_avidemo command.
Assemble all the screenshots with a third party program.
Encode with Dvix.

Thats it ^^
The video quality depends on your encoders settings.

Yep, has everything to do with the console. Follow these steps:

/g_sync 1
/record <demoname>
/g_sync 0
And when you're done, type /stoprecord.

I believe it will be placed in the mod folder of the mod you record it on. If not, it will be in your base folder, inside another folder called "demos." :)
