I have wondered about this for a while.. How did the Emperor (Sidious) get to be more powerful than any Jedi? I was reading Maul: Shadow Hunter and they don't explain how he got so powerful. Is there a book that goes back further to explain this? I once heard a rumor on the net that he possesed a crystal that gave him extra energy. And why does his face get all moldy when he's sidious but when he's Palpatine he looks(relatively)fine? Dooku looked OK when he was evil. Is this a temporary by-product of being a Sith Lord? Sidious was not a rouge Jedi so does that mean he IS a Sith? Or is this all just "The mystery of the Sith"? _______________ Honor those better than you would yourself. |

(although Yoda could of easily been better, along with Anakin, when Obiwan beat Anakin and has a cosiderably lower midachlorian count, or what ever that crap it is.) My brother agrees with you that the movies only mean anything. Although the jedi academy books are very good and the jedi knight series made by lucas arts takes place all after that. But yeah Sidius got zapped in his face.. no duh. But yeah Sidius was a sith, what did you think? He was following the tradition of TRUE sith. ONE master and ONE apprentice. Basicly when the master died the apprentice became the new Master. This is why REAL sith usauly are not just some average smoes. Although some Sith Lords were stil immensely more powerfull than the newer ones, because they can die from ways besides been defeated fair and sqaure by their apprentice. Such as being stabbed while sleeping, dead of aging (very unlikely) or simply defeated because there old age was crippling them. (the force doesn't make your flesh live FOREVER ) Also in the generations to come your going to have a few sith who suck at teaching so more dark secrets/tricks are lost. Palpatine lifted one tentative hand to the to the misshapen horror that he saw in the mirror, then simply shrugged. So it's not an "unmasking", it is him being physically deformed. to my beleif, i think sidious is so corrupt and evil by the darkside of the force, and that is why he looks the way he does. His knowledge of the old dark powers of the sith lords may have had a toll in that. and yes he does have a crystal its called the Kyber Crystal and it powers his influence on others.but this is only small knowledge that i have collected, dont count on me. i guess the right person to ask is Vasper.. _______________ The Force is my ally, and a powerful ally it is. He says he does not, in the conversation I detailed below, but then he uses the technique when he basically revives Anakin after pulling him from the lava. From the book: The Sith Lord lowered the limbless man tenderly to the cool ground above, and laid his hand across the cracked and blackened mess that had once been his brow, and he set his will upon him. That's what that all said before the prequels changed everything. I am going strictly from the Episode III novel here. I could type out the pages verbatim, for that matter, and it talks of a lightning loopback that scars him. Sidious (this is important) does not know how to extend the life of others. He knows about the technique, but not all the details. Here: "Yes, I want your knowledge." "Good. Good!" "I want your power. I want the power to stop death." "That power only my master truly achieved, but together we will find it. The Force is strong with you, my boy. You can do anything." This is why he is able to get Anakin to cleanse the temple. To get the holocrons, so that together they can learn that secret. If Sidious really had been extending his life through clones at the time of Episode III, then he would know the technique, right, and no say that he does not know how. The Expanded Universe lore you draw upon is from Dark Empire, well after ROTJ. WE're talking about how his face gets like that in Episode III. I think Expanded Universe made the mistake of thinking it was due to dark side consumption, that his face looks like that over time. It was merely that he got a good dose of his own lightning. Future clones would not look the same, just as clones of Jango Fett would not all have the same facial scar, etc. Scars do not transfer to clones. thats not right his face goes moldy beacuse he is a clone and the use of the darkside ages him at a faster rate than a normal clone.the emperor in epi vi was another clone and he is cloned again in the dark horse comics "dark empire" the emperor is over 300 years old sustaining himself throught clones. when one clone dies he uses a sith technique to transfer his being to another teenage clone. 4000 yeas before the fall of the old rep,exar kun used this power to transfer his being into a sith monolith on yavin 4 he would have then become a force sprirt and would have been able to wander the galaxy without anyone being able to stop him. kun was stoped by the unifying light of 10000 jedi that were around yavin 4. he was trapped in the monolith for 4000 years until kyp durron.... |

Regarding the face thing, when Dark Force users are drawing upon their power, it consumes them physically as well as spiritually and emotionally, reflecting their internal evil. "the devil comes in many forms" this i see in Sidious himself, he hides his true form until hes ready, also Sith Lords have the ability to mask themselves from Jedi. also the Kyber Crystles he has enhance his powers in many ways, yes he has several. in addition he was taught the dark ways of the ancient Sith Lords. Ultimately he has clones, which he has spread his power through them which increases everytime a clone dies, therefore he becomes eternal until all the clones are dead. I found this on a FAQ page which answers a few questions... Who was Darth Sidious' former Sith master? Darth Plagueis taught Darth Sidious the ancient black arts of the Sith Order. Dunno about Sidious power but I know about the face. Its just a connection with the Dark Side.(Just like Anakin gets yellow eyes for a couple of seconds in Episode 3.) And why didn't Dooku get this, maby cause you gotta be a Sith for a very very long time, and be true evil like Sidious.
