This is incorrect.

OK, "impossible" was the wrong word. From a standstill or moving along the ground as of JKA 1.01, though, it is true. Maybe there's freaks of nature out there, or possibly hax0rs, but I've only ever been able to roll backward after jumping or by holding crouch and hitting jump (which yes, I know is an alternative way of normal rolling).

It takes time and practice before you can get a strong feel with the Game, which will help you to know how and when to roll.

backwards is quite possible Ive done it on a number of times ( but of course only like 20% of the tiem I want to ) Also IM actauly finding sideways rolls less likely to happend than forward rolls a forward rolsl just quickly move forward ina quick burst of speed ( as in from zero to running ) and quickly tap crouch. another way to help guranteed a roll (if I do this you can almost guranteed im going for the stab) is a little hope and as I land it is easy to roll.

*EDIT* I heard the home servers are back up, i been having troubels reconnecting them ( yes tried new IP. im going to have to double check what ive written down though.

When you're trying to roll, the biggest thing is not to let go of the crouch button too quickly (for me at least :P). If you have enough momentum, sometimes even holding down crouch will result in a roll. Also, practice on rolling sideways if forward isn't working, as it's a bit easier to get to work. And backwards is impossible.

I tested this earlier while on the Wireplay server. I joined the Spectators, returned to gameplay and pressed crouch while running forwards in a failed attempt to roll. On the second attempt, I ran for around 10 - 20 seconds, pressed crouch while advancing forwards into a roll. I did this twice, and it worked both times. It just takes some getting used to.

PC and XBox versions are not exactly the same, and I'm guessing they both have different feels to them.

On another note, I'd strongly recommend that if you aren't already, that you use the keyboard rather than your Gamepad. I couldn't do 3/4 of the things I can do now when I used a Gamepad, and not just because of my lousy skills, but because you just can't do some things that JK:JA supports with a Gamepad. :D

I could run forward for 50 seconds straight and hit crouch adn not be guranteed a rolll.. in fact I was mroe guranteeed a rolsl if I moved for half a second ti seemed. Also I havnt been using a xbox controller at all, the softwar adapting is messed up.... and you may not be able to do a bunch of things, but I can do many thing I can't do with a key board with a xbox controller.

To be able to roll, you've got to have enough momentum. The easiest way to get this, is to hold down the forwards key, then hit crouch after about 20 seconds, by which time you should have enough momentum to roll.

If you're referring to wallruns:

You can do a horizontal wallrun by touching and facing 90 Degrees to the right of the wall, then holding Forwards, Left and Jump (this order will ensure you get it right). The same works to the left, just holding Forwards, Right and Jump for this one.

You can do a vertical wallrun by facing and taking a run up to the wall, then double-tapping jump, still holding forward 'til you wish to finish.

im not refering to wall runs.. I coudl be just runign forward for 30 seconds straight hit crouch and there is a 50% chance I won't roll. I know you need momentum I did rolls all the time on xbox.. anyhow I found a little a thing that oddly works one the hoem server as a certain charcter model, if I quickly tap the right strafe button before I hit crouch it works more often for some reason. I was no refering to anything special or fantastic, I just simply could not roll every time I wanted to.

Anyhow I got on the server last night finally (found out I was missing an extra zero for the port) and honourable recieved a butt whooping by the poepel I dueled, I think I beat somone once, because I got a lucky roll stab in there.

anyoen wanna let meknwo how I can get that version?

*EDIT* I figured it out I assusme teh server taht said jedi acacemy was actaulyl the jedi academy server... sily sily me... (but honestly that is confusing) I decided to check on teh JK3 server after noticing a bunch of hte files on the academy hoem server were JK 3 maps

Yeah... 1.04a is the current version of the JK2 Server. JKA is on 1.01 and doesn't look like there'll be another patch.

About the rolling stuff - A lot of things in JKA MP are different from SP, such as rolling, acrobatics (you can't roll or run on walls while holding a gun in MP), and Force powers. You won't find a server that magically treats these differently. Unfortunately, you'll just have to get used to the differences. And yeah, I prefer the SP ways most of those things work.

If there is no IP for the Wireplay server, make sure you're logged in (try editing your profile or something). My computer currently shows the correct IP for Wireplay. If it still doesn't show up, ask DJ or another JAC to e-mail it to you (NOT profile post), or press F5 and try again in a few days.

I still can't roll in mulitplayer on computer IC an in single player or online server taht treat force powers as if it was single player. I will hodl down teh the W key doa full fledge run forward, press crouch adn I still won't roll! and it realyl annoys me because the roll stab was a common counter atack to every kata.

You can get the map here.

The reason you cannot see the servers is probably because the only one currently running is the temporary Virginia server.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, you need to download the patch. You can get it here. Other than that and the map, you don't need anything to join our servers. :)

the only file that you are required to have to access the academy servers the the academy_v2 map.

you don't really have to worry about downloading anything else (mods, skins, saber hilts). the mod we use is server side (i think), so the version # was just for your info.
