Updated link to my staff site (plus ja+ news) | |

Hey guys, just dropping by. My website went down, so I uploaded it to a new FTP. I also made it look "light side" instead of dark side now. I'll have to add footwork videos and movement/evading sometime soon. I'm very busy at the moment, though. For those who don't know, it is a staff strategy website that shows how to handle a staff saber without sweeps, spam, or butterfly attacks. Take care! http://include.dls-clan.net As for JA+, some of you do not know this. JA+ is clearly "the" main mod for jka. Many people have become worried about changes that could kill dueling with upcoming version changes. I spoke with Slider personally and showed him some problems that exist and will come. He was impressed enough and I now work with him personally helping him balancing new additions to ja+. An example is this: New version of ja+ allows a new yellow dfa. You could orginally stunlock someone indefinetly till you got bored. I went in and showed how this would be a problem. In 2.3 final, you can now only do that special if your opponent is doing 1 of 3 things... 1. Idle 2. Not attacking 3. Using a special This will definetly keep it from being a spamfest, because if you do try to spam it, you are left too open and will die. I'm here to make sure ja+ doesn't turn jka into special-city (whoever can spam the most specials to win). The new moves are merely more tools to use. They are not meant to be depended on. You must use them at the right time. Overall, I'm on the team with Slider to help find bugs, exploits, and hacks. When found, we will correct them. The CTF skin cheat has already been fixed, along with the server crash exploit. I'm also going to be continuing to help balance new additions to JA+ in future releases. Slider is a good coder, and he has a lot of power to change the gameplay, so I want to make sure that he makes the right decisions in certain matters. Take care, all. I'd honestly like to see blademod (BWN) go into FFA. It's a very good combat system. The blocking/parry rate is well balanced, and it doesn't feel as random as many mods do. |

Read my thread...did I mention I worked for LucasArts? No...so quit lying. It's very obvious. Only thing I mentioned that in was an entirely different thread because orion was accusing me of having false information about having knowledge of certain affairs. I said that I work with LucasArts, so yes I do have knowledge. As for gamespy, I posted at this website's request. They wanted an update on current events. Some player just walking in saying all this stuff would be considered BS unless they have a real source. Goodness sakes, people ask you to do something, you do it, and everyone jumps on your back. Just don't ask if you don't want it, seriously. This comment was edited by #include on May 21 2005 04:32am. |

Well, everytime I see you on a pub, and every post you've made here, you always bring up working for gamespy and lucasarts. I tend to see that as bragging. Edit: And it's fine that you post things here by request of JA members. We're not ganging up on you for it. We're just pointing out holes in your stories that don't make sense is all. _______________ - Proud padawan of Kueller. - We really are at the beginning of it all. Bragging? Who's bragging? I posted here that I updated my staff site. This was by jedi academy member requests. I was also giving an update on ja+...which was also by your requests. Might want to re-evaluate your accusations. Seriously, what's your problem? You guys tell me to post here, and you all band together to try to create some flamewar. There's a lot more behind the scenes that you know. Believe me As for the video, whether true or not....what on earth does it have to do with my website and/or ja+? o_O I may as well post that I was walking by someone the other day that had one of those huge metal clips used for climbing mountains in his ear as an earring (true, by the way). This place has really change since the last time I was here. People used to be respectful and honorable. Now they look for threads to start flamewars in? I just came here by request. The only thing I can see them 'sponsoring' is bandwidth to host the trailers and videos from e3, which I can tell you were give to gamespy, filefront, and all the other filesites by the publishers... And I can prove that as IGN messed up the .mov version of the Quake4 trailer when they converted it from .mov to .wmv they forgot to swap the Red and Blue channels so quake looked horrible..and we were told this info from activision.. _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. Quote: and I'm not gonna bother trying to get into your attempt to flamewar. You obviously have no real knowledge of what Gamespy is about, especially with your E3 comment, so why bother wasting my time and argue? I dunno man, Orion gave a valid link that pretty much went against everything you just said. Quote: I have a bit of a weird random question... why do you advocate the absence of sweeps and butterflies but then use them yourself? Just curious, as it seems a tad hypocritical. Well, I don't. I said I'll use a butterfly if I see it neccessary, and I never sweep, ever. I'll do one left to right swing at the most and that's it. As for my jobs, I only need one job. My other jobs I do to help people. 3 of them are volunteer, and 2 pay. I don't see what that has to do with anything? and I'm not gonna bother trying to get into your attempt to flamewar. You obviously have no real knowledge of what Gamespy is about, especially with your E3 comment, so why bother wasting my time and argue? My team pretty much keeps games alive and well when the developers cut funding for it. Current projects are Aliens Vs Predator II and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Both games are old, funding has been cut, and they are both dying games. We come in and create mods, patches, hack fixes, etc... to keep the community busy. Orion. Get all seeing eye and show all servers. Most of them are ja+, so what I said is true. He makes a change, and nearly all of the jka players have to put up with it. I'm here to make sure that it's at least a balanced out change. This comment was edited by #include on May 21 2005 04:16am. |

HAHHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHAH thats the funniest thing I have heard on along time. Oh and BTW there was never an offical JKA patch in the works at Raven those are only issued by the publisher, and I doubt gamespy would have access to the code since JKA didn't have the lame ass game spy tracker with it. Oh and Gamespy isn't a sponsor of E3, and gamespy is owned by IGN, which isn't a sponsor of E3.. SO please get your facts straight. Yeah, considering all the lying and bullsh*tting that Slider has done in order to get the JA and JA Mod source code off of C1 and Orion, he isn't particularly popular around here. JA+ is a retarded mod, anyway. |
#include - Student |
I was just adding the Gamespy comment. Gamespy is a lot bigger than you think. Sponsors E3...bought out several gaming industry biggys, fileplanet, etc... It's not just a server browser. But yes...I think the best thing that would happen to JKA would be for a combat system like BWN's (blademod) with some limited admin ability. Seeing that won't happen, I'd like to keep it as balanced as I possibly can. Remember though...ja+ is turning into more than just gameplay. We've been fixing a lot of hacks and exploits out there. Every other mod out there that I've come across with is extremely vulnerable to quite a few things. This comment was edited by #include on May 20 2005 09:19am. |

Yeah let me agree with Gradius in that I think working to make JA+ less lame is a worthwhile thing. I'm just not fond of it. |
Gradius - Ex-Student |
I personally am not fond of Slider, or any mod that he puts out. If you think you can help him fix it, by all means, go for it, would be great to not have the mod as screwed as it is. Just be sure to work mainly on the saber combat system first. As long as that gets fixed, as well as the use of emotes during duels, it's all good. Btw, Slider being part of Gamespy doesn't give him any extra credit around here. _______________ - Proud padawan of Kueller. - We really are at the beginning of it all. Slider was invited and is now part of Gamespy. Just FYI |

I almost look at JA+ as a different game from JKA now. I also do not consider Slider to be a good coder. Especially not compared to someone like Orion, who was so good that Raven even hired him. |

Yes, I was against it, as well. Mainly because of how unbalancing it was becoming and how it was ruining combat. Instead of doing nothing, I joined him. If he's going to be the "king" of the mods, I'll at least show him the best way to do it. |

Very cool tutorial. I'm sure I've seen Janus and Sfire making one at some point as well. You guys should hook up and put all your ideas together or something As for JA+, I personally don't have a problem with either that or JA Reloaded. Just warning you that a lot of the ja'ers look down upon it and are firmly against Slider and the development of his mod.
