I just find your responses in this thread to be funny. It's like bitching about someone bitching. Madoxx likes to make fun of everything he can, and if he wants to spend his time doing so, I don't really care. I have my opinions on SWEPIII, and you guys have yours, but yelling at eachother about them doesn't do anything but make people angry. So I guess all I really have to say is complaining about something doesn't change what it is, and we're supposed to be a friendly community here at TJA, based on respect. Quote: This is based off the fact that he seen this movie, stated all the bad polt points (there was a lot of them) and people here still seem to disagree? That's because most people here (including myself for the most part) are hardcore star wars fans, and whatever lucas does you'll find it to be towards your liking, plain and simple. Yeah, or maybe I just liked the movie? Don't be silly. Edit: Though you do receive some sexy points for having a Big Lebowski quote in your signature. It might be a review, but I wouldn't call it a 'good' review, or a review of any worth. It's relies too heavilly on opinion, and fails to actually review much really... I would call it a bad critique, as though he does supply some reasoning, most of it is just conjecture. Skimming over his site though I can see what he is trying to do, and admit I did chuckle at some of the phrases he had coined together lol. |

Quote: Oh boy, you're gonna have it tough in life if this is the reply you give to all people who talk in absolutes. I don't need to know him in order to criticize his work. This has nothing to do with absolutes. I wasn't even talking about you criticizing his work. Quote: His "review" is just an excuse to be witty and moan about a pop culture phenomenon. In the above state you clearly assert that you know the reason he wrote his review. Unless you actually know him, and he told you this, then the statement is wrothless. Also this is an EP3 review, I did expect many people not to agree with it, but simple fact is, 90% of you aren't bothering to even talk about the review, your talking more about the author and the author website in general than you are about the review. Also those who do talk about the review choose to do so without even bothering to back it up. I'm consistently disagreeing with Kenyon, but atleast he can manage to stay on topic, and backup what he says. _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. I don't want to be mean or anything, but your replies don't quite match up with what I consider reasonable. First up, if I say something is easy, I don't have to prove myself to you or anyone else to back up a statement, because again, it is opinion. The same goes for you criticizing the review I pointed out - you're trying to deconstruct an argument where there is none. Reviewers go see a movie, write down what they thought about it and why, and that's that. Maddox is entertainment, not constructive reasoning. People these days. Disagree. He was angry and lashed out. Now he's remoresefull. His sadness and self-blame for her death is a huge part in the Emperor having him so much under his control. Look at domestic violence man, often the abuser will apologise after the event has happened, show remorse, etc. Why should it be any different? After all, Darth Vader is not COMPLETELY evil - as Luke shows in RotJ. Edit: 3th dude, your pic is SCARY. This comment was edited by Matsky on Jun 08 2005 08:57am. |

tbh i think too many people that read that website are easily influenced by his or anyones opinions. if you liked the movie before, you shouldnt feel any different after reading some article on the net. having your own opinions is cool. on an unrelated note, i think some of his articles are funny but usually because of how stupid they are. and i liked the movie but i agree with buzz's article on how it would be ruined if you watch them in sequence (ep 1-6). most of us saw them in 4-6 and then 1-3, which was pretty much wrecked anyway because there wasnt many people in the cinema who could breathe for themselves and didnt know pretty much how it was going to end. _______________ I fite for teh usars!1 This comment was edited by Rinzler on Jun 08 2005 08:37am. |

Don't let Plo Koon see this review his head might explode. And Maddox's humor has quickly worn off on me. Its pick a topic, swear a lot about it, say why its crap and then insult everyone he can. It gets old. And since I was walking out of the movie talking to my friend about some of the criticisms he brings up its obviously not hard to come up. Even my article points out him putting special effects in every scene and mine was posted before him. His review is worthless. About all I want to know is if he paid money so he could rip on it or if he got an illegal copy. One makes him stupid, the other makes him a thief. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Quote: with the logic of a screwdriver You stated yourself this is opinion, why does logic matter here at all then? Quote: He likes to rant - ranting is easy Really then write a rant that is A.) Sound B.) Funny C.) About something almost anyone can read and understand. Since you know it is easy ------------------------------------- About the "review" you like. 1.) It's barely a review, I'm literally having troubling arguing against it, because of how little it covers. Serious, this "review" spends it first two paragraphs giving lucas a hot stone massage. It doesn't even mention things like the plot So he basically gives: 1. We should bow to Lucas. 2. Recap the movie, mention very little other than how amazing the sepcial effects are. 3. Close with again don't forget BOW TO LUCAS. Besides if you look at this EP2 review: http://www.grouchoreviews.com/index.php?module=Movie_Reviews&func=display&id=95 he is an excerpt: Quote: George Lucas’ new batch of Star Wars movies defies most reasonable critical standards. With corny dialogue, sleepwalk acting, and eyebrow-raising plot machinations, the baroque Star Wars: Episode II— Attack of the Clones may make some long for the relative quaintness of Episode I—1999’s The Phantom Menace. And yet, it’s impossible (as with the dazzling but inevitably disappointing Episode I) to dismiss a film with this much stuff: exotic production design, imaginative characters, and a wide variety of digital jedi fu. So is Star Wars: Episode II— Attack of the Clones a good movie or a bad movie? A bomb, a masterwork, or something in between? For most, it's enough to say, "C'mon, dude. It's a freakin' Star Wars movie!" So what Star Wars movies are exempt from being good or bad? Then why did he choose to give it: ***1/2 stars? Also with this line in the review: the first two acts of Episode II add up to a talky fashion show of bad-poetry come-ons, psychic-friend-network jedi pow-wows, and foregone-conclusion politics How does the movie get 3.5 stars? He basically just stated that 2/3 of movie is not good. You could have atleast pointed to this: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050519/REVIEWS/50503002/1023 Wheather or not you agree with the reviewer, it is a review, it does cover the movie, and give the reviewers opinions on the actors, the effects, and the plot. _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. Ok, so I really don't even notice the fact that the review is supposed to be funny, because honestly it cover many valid points. Quote: To Lucas' credit, he was tacitly shamed into"special" by name, and turned it into something so ordinary that nobody raises an eyebrow during a not giving Jar Jar any talking lines in this movie. With Jar Jar's character no longer speaking to annoy you, Lucas filled the void by giving every robot in the movie stupid toy noises. Seriously, they are robots, not even the clones had that much personality. Quote: Quote: The movies are for children but [the fans] don't want to admit that." Oh really? It just so happens that this "children's movie" has a scene where a guy gets his hands chopped off, a graphic decapitation, the wanton slaughter of children At best it was for teens, it did get a PG-13 rating. Quote: Senator Palpatine seduces Anakin to the dark side in about as much time as it takes for you to finish reading this sentence. Quote: Yes, that's right. The entire reason Anakin switched to the dark side becomes unraveled when he tries to kill Padme, who was the reason he switched to the dark side to begin with. Oops! Of course, Star Wars apologists will try to point out that Anakin was already under the influence of the "dark side" at this point. So that's why the first thing he asks as Darth Vader is whether Padme is safe, right you morons? How can you buy that? EDIT: Upon re-reading the previous posts I noticed something. You typed stuff, but you didn't really say anything. Quote: Stupid Review Basically you come off like: It was stupid because I don't agree with it, I'm not going to say why, I will just attack Maddox. The 2nd post barely makes sense. The most recent post previous to this, shows the person wasn't even paying attention to the review. He never said thier was anything wrong with "Darth Vader" he was talking about other names used. Just because you don't agree with the review doesn't mean it's stupid or doesn't make sense. Sad, it's like this guy was so bent on flaming this movie that he wasn't even paying attention. Anakin was having a vision not a dream, he tells Padme that it was the same vision he had about his Mother before she died. This vision of Padme also was realised. I can't believe after 20+ years he hasn't noticed that Darth Vader is another way of saying Dark Invader, if these names bugged you, you should have noticed it from the first movie! One more thing, if you crave "Special Effects" why don't you go back to watching Buckaroo Banzii for the rest of your life it's 2005!! I loved the movie and it was better the second time, if you're not a Star Wars fan you probably shouldn't see this movie, the off beat humour will most likely pass you by. That's it for the flaming ...I feel so dirty _______________ Honor those better than you would yourself. |
